HTC is about to release a new smartphone.

According to serial tech leaker Evan Blass, the new phone is called the Bolt and should be officially unveiled in October.

Blass tweeted a photo of the new phone on Wednesday, with the Bolt looking pretty much the same as the HTC 10, which the Taiwanese tech giant launched earlier this year.

However, the big news about the Bolt is that it seems HTC have also decided to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack, replacing it with a USB-C port.

If you take a look at the HTC 10 you will see a headphone jack on the top of the device.

Now take a look at the image shared by Evan Blass – no headphone jack.

HTC wouldn’t be the first Android smartphone manufacturer to drop the headphone jack. Motorola’s Moto Z from earlier this year also didn’t include everyone’s favorite audio connector.

Other possible points of note from the leaked image of the HTC Bolt is that it appears to have two trays, suggesting it will support dual sim.

The leaked image of the bolt also displays an on screen date and time of October 18 at 7pm, with the location set to New York which is likely to be a hint to the release date.

HTC is yet to confirm any specifications or other details of the Bolt so it looks like we’ll just have to wait until the device is officially launched to confirm the specs.
