So yet again there is another update. Has anyone updated yet? I've heard from other forums the battery now drains quicker and the battery takes longer to charge.
Anyone had this issue?

I only updated yesterday but at present no.

Have you tried clearing the system cache first.

This is different to a full reset as it does not affect user data.

"Step #1 Turn your phone OFF.

Step #2 Boot into Recovery Mode:- Press and hold, simultaneously, the Volume UP + Power + Home buttons until you see some small, blue, writing appear in the top left hand corner of the screen and release immediately.

Step #3 You will then see the small, stock, Recovery menu. Using the Volume UP and DOWN buttons, navigate to the menu item "Wipe cache partition".

Step #4 Once the option is highlighted you can use the Power key to enact the wipe and reboot your phone."

Do you update over WiFi? I must admit I've always done it via the computer

I also prefer to update over WiFi.

I factory reset if the phobe is presenting glitches.

I also prefer to clear the system caches before a factory reset as thus process does not involve taking the phone back to the last firmware update.

Me too.  Obviously its best to do it when there isn't something else making heavy use of the bandwidth.  You also need enough space on the phone for the downloaded files plus some workspace.

Updated via WiFi and wow so much quicker than via pc. I didn't do a reset as some people said it wasn't necessary. So my next question is if it's about 25M it's a small update and anything bigger would require a reset.

In the early days of Smart phones and in particular Samsung phones a reset was required as there were many issues carried over from the previous firmware.

I haven't had to do any full factory resets after firmware updates for a while now, if you do a major update then have some issues then I would recommend a full reset. That's what I do now anyway.

FWIW, I had a 60-odd mb update on my HTC yesterday and it hasn't required a reset.   I've also done full platform updates (ie version changes) without it.   The basic rule is suck it and see.   If the phone works fine, it probably is fine.  If you start getting issues or anomalous behaviour, a reset is your first port of call.

I did have a momentary panic yesterday when the first thing my phone threw up was a page full of error messages, but it turned out to be a problem with the coffee shop wifi! :smileysurprised:

Since updating to the latest software, occasionally on start up I get a green screen with cogs on it saying Android apps are starting. It's only on for a few seconds and then my phone starts as normal. Anyone else experiencing this? If it means resetting again I think I'll wait until the next update!
