Vodafone Protect has locked me out of my phone

I put my sim card into my sony xperia z3 compact which hasn't been used for a while. It now locks my screen and tells me to enter a pin number which I have never set. Can someone tell me how I can get into my phone? 

I don't have any other phone I can use and have no access to my number now.

The two options I'm aware of are...

Put the sim in another phone and reset the protect pin that way. 

Insert your SIM card into another phone and then request that your PIN gets sent to your number. Once you have that then enter that into the phone that Vodafone Protect has locked and it should work.

Or hard reset the phone which is usually by a series of button presses and it should take the phone back to the last Firmware update. Unfortunately this may also delete your saved data in the phone.
