I have been getting calls on my I phone marked "Blocked Call" at all times of the day and night.
Last night for instance they started at 2am and went until after 5am.
What exactly does this mean and what type of call or caller comes up as "Blocked"
iT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!
Calls will show as blocked if the caller has witheld their number. I sometimes get this even though a caller is in my contacts list but are dialling from a number that has a 'withold number' set for it.
If you have a home phone you can try it for yourself by dialling '141' + your mobile number and it will come up as blocked.

ring the police if it gets so annoying.
They'll advise you of a crime ref number.
You can phone Vodafone and they have some sort of system that can find last caller information, with held or not.. a fella showed me how to use it, I think it's Dandy or something like that

A warm welcome to the eForum!
I can see our other members have already explained this to you (thanks guys!)
A blocked number is when someone has withheld their number, you can do this by putting 141 before a number you dial or most mobiles have an option of withholding your number.
Further to CarlJ's comment, if you feel these calls are a nuisance and you did not ask for them then the police can give you a crime reference number. With this number you can have your number changed free of charge.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Thanks
Holly

Hi All
I've started receiving these blocked calls on my iphone4 as of last week. They last one ring only however they take place at any time of the day. For example, since this morning (22/Feb) I've had 4 calls at 06:44, 07:58, 08:33 and 08:37. I do not want to change my number which I like and have had for 15 years. If I escalate to the Nuisance Bureau via a police reference number what should i realistically expect to happen?
Regards

Hi nxenios
Thanks for your post here. I appreciate how frustrating this problem must be for you.
The Police would investigate the nuisance calls for you, however I can't say what would happen as this is obviously down to the police. I would expect that at the very least the calls will stop though.
Please let me know if you have any more questions and we'll be happy to help you further
Thanks
Wayne

Hi again,
The police came back and said that this looks more of a network problem (originating from the LYCA network) and decided not to proceed with the case. I logged the case 3 times last week with Vodafone so that it would be escalated to the Nuisance Bureau but to date I haven't been contacted with any update. I called 191 this morning and the advisor wasn't aware how the Bureau actually operates. I asked if the culprit number (it's a 07438 number) to be at least blocked and the advisor said that this is not possible. This is bizzare as it is very easy thing to action and besides Vodafone offer this functionality in other countries: users can blacklist numbers. I think the option to change my number (even free of charge) is an extreme one.
Grateful for any further advise or update.
Regards,

Now that you know the network and either you or the police/Vodafone know the number you could try calling LYCA on 0207 132 0322 and explainiong the problem to them.
Failing that assuming you now do have the number you could set a silent ringtone for that number so you will never hear the calls.

Thank you. I will do. However, back to my fundamental question: what does Vodaone's Nuisance Bureau actually do and why haven't I heard from them.
(Apologies for the frustration)
