hi just purchased an iphone 3g 8gb from ebey it is unlocked but when i put my sim in it says no servive have tried everything, and now im thinking ive been sold a phone that doesnt work i have contacted the seller but havent heard back yet, but thought i would ask just incase there was some settings needed done

Have you tried connecting to itunes and doing a full restore to factory settings to get reset the phone to basically new?

Has the phone been factory unlocked through iTunes or Jailbroken to remove the lock?

If the latter and you do a full restore in iTunes it will relock itself to the originating network. So beware of that

Are you able to borrow a sim from someone to check if the problem is with your sim?
