HELP!!!

hi so basically, my friend had this iphone 3gs on O2, but he got a blackberry and gave me his iphone.. it works fine as like an ipod, but whenever i put my SIM in it it just says "waiting for activation, this may take some time" now i know some time is usually less than 24 hours, but i've left my sim in this thing for 5 days!!! also when i go into the settings and go to network it just says "not available"

so basically i was wondering if i can take it into the store and get it activated to vodafone?

many thanks.

Re: HELP!!!

Hi there.  I had the exact same problem with mine.  What you need to do is plug the iphone into your computer and it will open itunes.  When it registers the iphone, click restore and it will restore everything to factory settings and will activate your phone.  I waited days thinking that it was my sim card that was the problem as I was given the iphone as well.  I thought that the phone was broken so plugged it in and tried the restore button as a last resort and it worked.  Let me know if it works and hope this helps you.  I can imagine how frustrated you are cuz I was exactly the same.

Re: HELP!!!

Re: HELP!!!

It sounds like the handset is still locked to the O2 network, your friend would need to get in touch with them to request it be unlocked.
Hope you get it sorted!

mosts of the networks seem to be unlock the iphones now so a quick call should be all you need to sort this.
