I have had my current 24 month contract on the iPhone 3GS for 18 months.

I have just purchased an iPad with only wifi direct from Apple (delivery 2nd April) with the intention of using my iPhone to tether it when away from home.

I have now noticed that VF will charge me £5 per month for 500GB of data rather than using my 1GB allowance.

I also notice that t-mobile are offering a 4S (16GB) with 2000 mins and unlimited data including tethering for the same monthly cost (£36 over 24 months Plus £99 for the phone). This is a special just for this week, I think

I can't upgrade with VF until July and the current offer to new customers for £36 is for 600mins with 1GB (which I think includes tethering - but I'm not sure!! as this totally contradicts itself http://www.vodafone.co.uk/brands/iphone/tethering-your-iphone/index.htm) plus £59 for the phone.

What do I do? 

I could quit VF and pay the quoted £150 to get out of the contract early.

I could stay with VF until July but I hate being ripped of with data, if I'm using  the iPad I wont use the iPhone for data at all, so I'll end up with 1GB unused and being charged for an extra 500GB or even worse 2 or 3 lots of 500GB!!

Looking further on this forum some iPhone plans included tethering in the price plan and some don't, could a Mod or someone advise me if my plan (YPL 24IPN 600m Utx WF VMI VP) includes it or not?

Your price plan is from a few years ago and wouldnt , but the modern ones do

I.m really in a dilemma as to what to do here - you say the new plans include tethering within the monthly data allowance?? I can't find this quoted anywhere - could someone point me in the direction of this written down somewhere?

Looks like there aren't any Mods working today?

I have looked at my T&C's from when I took out the contract and there is no mention of tethering at all! I would tend to gather from that, that the 1GB allowance should cover tethering.

Hi Guys,

The eForum team work on a first come first serve basis which is why it has taken a while to respond to this post.

When it comes to tethering on the iPhone you will need to be on one of the latest iPhone (Y4) price plans to include tethering in your inclusive data bundle.

Basically as long as you are on one of the newer price plans you will be able to use tethering as part of your inclusive data allowance.
