Help setting up Personal HotSpot - iPhone to iPad

Hi,
I've got an iPhone 4 iOS5 and have recently purchased the new iPad. I would like to tether my iPhone to my iPad and use my data allowance with the iPad.
Am I able to do this and how? I rang customer services (191) and didn't get any helpful advice.
Also is there a cost to tethering my iPhone to my iPad?

Thanks John, but I've already read through that and haven't got the personal hotspot setting available, it keeps forwarding me to the Vodafone website.
I'm not sure if it's because my contract was originally for a Blackberry and I changed my handset over to an iPhone?
I'm not sure if my tariff needs to be changed over to an iPhone tarrif?

I think you may be right and a tariff change is required to enable, as the tethering feature is controlled by the operator as detailed in Apples System Requirements

Hi AimeePie88,
The Personal Hotspot functionality requires certain settings on the account to allow you to activate it. This is built into the newest iPhone plans, but had to be added separately on older ones.
With regards to charges, this again depends on the plan you have in place. With the most recent plans, this comes from your data allowance, whereas for older plans you'd need the tethering pack charged at £5 per month for 500MB.
