Hey all,
Ive got an Iphone4s on a new agreement...
Just wondering....
1. Does the Iphone4s have the ability/option of text message delivery reports and if so how do I switch them on/off? If not is there an app I can download for this?
2. Is the Iphone4s already set up to send/recieve MMS? or do I need to download MMS settings? or an app for this aswell?
Thank you in advance,
Neilo

You can send free MMS messages between users of ios5 iMessage.
Quoted from an iPhone forum:
iMessage is available exclusively to iOS 5 users and is built right into the current messaging app. Text messages from users who have iOS 5 (and a data connection) will appear in blue instead of the usual green for text messages. Choosing between a text message and an iMessage requires no input from the user at all; if the phone has a data connection -- be it GPRS, EDGE or 3G -- and the recipient has iOS 5, then text messages will be sent as free iMessages.
Delivery reports are included and an icon appears on screen to show when the recipient is typing a new message.
.
Send a message to one person or to many friends at once — along with photos, videos, or links you like. When someone replies, everyone sees it. With iMessage, as soon as your message appears on a friend’s iOS device, you’ll get a delivery receipt letting you know it went through. You can enable read receipts for a visual “copy that.” And see when someone is in the middle of typing out a reply. iMessages are securely encrypted, so it’s just between friends

Just to add to kids' information about iMessage, your 4S should be set up automatically to send and receive MMS, but if for any reason it doesn't work, let us know and we'll be able to help.
As for delivery reports, iPhone doesn't support these, but again if you take up kids' advice on iMessage, when sending messages to other iOS 5 users you'll see when messages are delivered.
Thanks,
Tom

what the mod said is true but there is a way of doing it anyway, i know how to do in on o2, you turned off the setting to do so(if available)then at start of your sms you put *0# then space then your text and you would get a delivery report.
as i think i remember that o2 didnt naturally support delivery reports.
there should be a similar work around for vodafone
you could try *N# then space then your message
make sure you use a capital n, if that doesnt work try lowercase n
lots of people (even vodafone)say there is no code for them but there has to be one, it is to do with the gsm network standards, so is pretty universal but keep digging around you should find it

Do delivery reports actually mean anything? Let's say you could and do get a delivery report for a txt message. That only means the txt has been delivered, not read, AND possibly not read by the intended person.
I've heard of people being fired by txt, but really, it's not a guaraneteed method of communication - regrdless of delivery or read reports.

You're absolutely correct. The delivery confirmation doesn’t mean that the message has been read.
It actually reports that an SMS has reached the messaging centre and is waiting to be collected by the recipient number. This way, if a message is sent but their phone is off or out of coverage, you still get a notification to show the text sent and therefore don't try sending it again.

Thanks for replies guys, Ive given up on the Delivery report scenario seems quite complex lol, With regards to my home-screen can I move the items about so I can put my favourite apps on the first page?
Cheers,
Neil :-)
Yes you can move apps around. You can also create folders on a screen to hold a group of apps i.e. all your games in one folder - rather than on a page.
