The ipad 2 on apples webiste is £429 yet vodafone are charging £499, the contracts are the same £15 for 3g etc, why is vodafone charging more?

Because Vodafone haven't updated their prices since apples announcement of the new iPad yet.

When they release the prices for the new iPad I would expect the iPad 2 (if Vodafone still offer it) to be reduced.

Apple has released their retail prices.

Vodafone haven't released their retail prices as presumably wait to get the prices apple will sell to them at. Then as Vodafone sell the iPad as part of a contract then will work out how much they are willing to subsidise it to people signing a 2 year deal etc.

I'm sure they are also waiting for other networks to release their prices to see if they are competitive. I can't see why this takes so long, 2 days should be more than enough for a company the size of Vodafone put I would guess they need to know how many they will have on launch day so to not have thousands of people after the 10 they get it stock.

I don't get it, the network prices, I.e monthly cost on Vodafone orange etc are on apples website, it just seams Vodafone are charging a premium for the actual iPad when bought with the contract. they are very very slow and id be pretty annoyed if walking past apples store saw the exact same thing for less on Vodafone. I'd buy an iPad 2 but certainly not through Vodafone at this rate, disappointing and makes me worry about other pricing on the site

The pricing on apples website is just sim only that will stay the same.

Vodafones site just hasn't been updated yet. When they sort their pricing for the new iPad then the price will be corrected I'm sure.

We won't have any prices for the new iPad online until the release date as we are not taking pre-orders - those you can see now are, as mentioned, the prices for the current iPad. You can register for updates here to be alerted once it becomes available.

I think you misunderstood, I was referring to the iPad 2 prices which are cheaper on apples site than vodafones for the exact same package and that Vodafone appear to be slow to update for some reason

The prices on Appe's site are for the iPad 2 which were reduced after the iPad 3 announcement. Prices on Vodafone's site are the old pre-iPad 3 prices and haven't yet been updated. Come March 16th I'm sure they'll change to be more in line with Apple's.

So the prices have been out for more than enough time. Whats going on, why havent vodafone lowered their prices? is this some sort of scam by vodafone in the hope that people dont check apples website? Its very poor, come on vodafone a bit of transparancy please, why have you not updated your prices and are still trying to sell these to people at inflated prices?

On the 30 day plans, much like PAYG you're not getting any hardware subsidy at all, so expect pay full price for it. You do know that £429 is  same price you'll pay at Apple don't you? The £329 price is for the Wifi only model and Vodafone are selling the Wifi + 3G model.

I don't see where Vodafone are being anything else other than transparent with their published prices? It isn't as if they are hiding anything.

As above there was a difference for a few days as apple had dropped form £499 to £429, Vodafone now appear to have followed suit, in a fairly timely manner. And as above you are now appear to be mistakenly comparing two different products.

£329 is the iPad 2 wifi. The iPad 2 wifi and 3G is £429 on apple and vodas website. No rip off.
