Ipad Micro Sim - No Service -

Ordered a rolling monthly contract Micro Sim for my Ipad.
The card came yesterday with NO instructions other than to insert in Ipad.
All I get is the 'No Service' message.
Does this need activating ? Why are there absolutely NO instructions sent with the sim ?
May well cancel this thing. Not a good start.

Have you phoned Vodafone and asked?
I had the same on my iPad, all i did was phone them up and they told me it would activate by the end of the day, 4 hours later, full ocnnection with 3g!

Hmm odd, they should have atleast given you a time scale,
is it a new connection or a port from another network and i know ports came take anything up to he end of the day...

I had some major issues getting my microSIM activated which took numerous atempts to get it all fully resolved including having to deal with the virtually useless offshored second line iPhone/iPad support team.
1. The number associated with the SIM was apparently classed as a "reserved number" so would never have activated - at this point the new number or contract did not even show in my online account. No network access at this point.
2. In forcing a manual activation of the SIM I got put onto the wrong price plan - something called "ports and migrations" - which is apparently one above the correct plan in the list customer care pick from. Network access, but no data.
3. Finally registered, and now showing in my account online, but no data access - turned out it was because the "internet" APN was not provisioned on my account, only "wap.vodafone.co.uk" was. I actually had a long and heated discussion with a tech over this as initially he suggested I change the APN manually to wap, but refused to accept it was a workaround and not a resolution because both APNs should work, and the SIM was setup to use "Internet" by default meaning anytime the network settings get reset I'd be needing to change the APN manually again. Still no data access.
4. Eventually someone worked out how to correctly provision the "internet" APN on my account and my iPad sprung into life.
The moral of this story is that if your new account/number for the iPad isn't showing in your online account then there is likely a bigger issue than simply a delay in the network activating your SIM. I'd definitely give them a call on this basis.
I'm still not convinved everything is 100% right with my account setup - not least because in my account it thinks this is a standard mobile account rather than specifically a "mobile broadband" account which is how my other iPad is setup.
At this stage I still have no access on my new iPad with the Vodafone app - all my other iDevices work fine.
If anyone from the eForum team fancies taking a look into my account to ensure everything is correctly setup and it is configured correctly as a mobile broadband account I'd be super appreciative.

Thank you for your post and I am sorry to see this has caused you frustration, when ordered online you should have automatically received an email explaining the setup process, done in store they would have done this for you and when ordered over the phone this would have been explained and followed up with the email and it would appear a link has been missed along this process.

Dave - I'm having exactly the same issues as the above posters. 5 web-chats and calls with your customer service have got me nowhere. After 3 webchats I then got told my account was 'cancelled' and then they activated it. I've never been with Vodafone before so I have no idea how it could have been cancelled before it was ever active.
Anyway, long story short I have no service after a week of trying - can you help?
