Hi,
I have a iPhone 3GS on a sim only vodafone tariff. I bought this from an apple store on o2 PAYG. Because o2 are ###### awful, I've happily unlocked it, and have it on my vodafone contract.
I need to insure it, and the cost of the unit is £440. Can I use vodafone's insurance for it? I will be using the registered vodafone sim card, but obviously the phone has not been sold by vodafone.
Any advice?

I'd very much doubt it as VF can't offer any replacement or repair facility in case you needed to make a claim.

Most banks do mobile phone insurance and the cost is about the same as VF.
Depending on the level of account you have, it could even be free.
Only difference is you need to contact their underwriters if you need to make a claim.

Hi there zoonyx,
Nice to see you're thinking about our CoverMe insurance. Unfortunately, I'd have to let you know that we wouldn't be able to insure this handset, since our insurers would not be able to replace it as there'd be no stock of this handset.
For anyone else considering insuring their handset, see my link, there's loads of info on what's covered and what's not.
Cheers,
LeeH

Thanks for the honesty Lee
I wondered if they would stump up a lump sum for the loss, but at least I'm clear now.
