But I keep getting this error message

"Sorry for the delay we are currently experiencing high demand for this service, please try again or alternatively you can call us free of charge by dialling 191 from your vodafone phone."

apparently i can only get the replacement online

I tred all day yesterday and agin this morning. Any ideas when i this is going to me fixed?

Re: Lost iphone 3gs

Hi littlepaws

I’m sorry to see you’ve lost your handset.

To answer you first question, no we are not able to track the usage of the phone. If you have reported it stolen, however, a bar will be placed on the IMEI of the handset, as well as your number, meaning the handset itself will be barred from use on all UK networks.

Do you have insurance cover for your phone? If you have cover from us, our customer services team will be able to assist in making a claim, or you may have cover from a third party, or be covered under a household policy, of which you’d need to contact the insurance company to process.

The reason you were possibly directed online is linked to the ability to upgrade up to 190 days from your contract end in this way. So this is not so much to get a replacement handset, but enrol into a new contract extension, in order to get a new handset as part of that deal. I’ve just tried the upgrades link, and everything now seems to be working, with me getting to the handset choice option on one of my numbers.

Let me know if you’ve any further issues.

Regards

Trev

Hi littlepaws

A moderator here on the forum has replied to your giving you the reason why you are receiving the message.

You can only upgrade if you are in the last 190 days of your contract and that be online only.  You will then have the remaining 6 months added onto your new contract.

If you do not have insurance, a replacement phone will be at your own expense.  If you have insurance, you will need to contact the insurance company you are with to make a claim for loss.

Re: Lost iphone 3gs

Appartly i can upgrade from the 27th May

I'm now getting the following error message................

Sorry. We are not able to offer upgrade information related to this account. Please contact customer services free on 191 from your Vodafone mobile, or visit your local Vodafone store for more information.

I thought my iphone was insured throough my home content insurance (but only if something happen at home) did not cover loss or stolen away from your home address. (thx esure should have told me this before I took out the policy)

Many home ins policy cover loss or stolen items away from home, if you like me and thought the same I suggest you call them to confirm this.

Seems like i banging me head against the wall. Still no phone.

Re: Lost iphone 3gs

Hi littlepaws

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you've been having trying to get a replacement phone.

The error message that you're getting at the moment may be happening if your SIM is still barred on your account after you reported it stolen. If you've not had a replacement SIM delivered and activated yet this could be stopping your online access.

We'd be happy to look at the early upgrade options for you to try to get a replacement handset arranged. I'll get an email sent over to you shortly, if you can reply to this we'll be in touch! :smileyhappy:

I look forward to speaking to you soon,

Cheers, Helen

This is a bit like bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted but________________

When you get you next iPhone install 'Find my phone' (Free from iTunes app store) on it. This will help you track you phone to its current location providing the phone is on and your sim card is still in it.

It is not a foolproof way to locate your phone but it does give you a fighting chance to do so by using any Internet conection.

Re: Lost iphone 3gs

Oh yes it does!

All you have to do is to set it up from  either an iPhone 4 or an Ipad.

Register your details by setting up an me.com account from one of those devices and using your iTunes account details. Then if you have used somebody elses device you can delete the 'find my phone' app & the me.com account   from that device once the account is registered. You can then track the phone from any Internet connection.

I have registered both  3GS phones  of my grandsons and tested them both to find their location and they both work.

Sorry. We are not able to offer upgrade information related to this account. Please contact customer services free on 191 from your Vodafone mobile, or visit your local Vodafone store for more information.

Still same problem - spoken to telephone support, email support and also visited the local branch and this posted on this forum.

lost count the amount of time ive spoken to several different support members.

Keep repeating myself and going over and over it and getting nowhere.

Been about a week and a half now.. Started May 29th when I first raised the issue

In the mean time I have had to source my own phone,

wheres vodfone support when you really need them and why is this not fixed.

I am now concern with trusting my business calls with vodafone.

Been with vodafone for years never had a problem and when I do im banging my head against a brick wall.

And to top it of they try to charge me £60 to help sort it out?  What is going on Vodafone?
