I need some help with using a Vodafone mobile braodband dongle on Mac OS-X Lion.
I want to be able to delete the default BT OpenZone wireless profile from the vodpahone connection manager as when ever you load this up it create's the profile on the OS-X system. This is rather annoying as it will take priority over wireless connections that i use.
Although you can set the bt openzone to the lowest priority if you go to a new place (free internet in a cafe etc) if you havn't used it before but there is a bt openzone close by it will connect to that instead. so you have to go in and move around the prioirty again. I dont ever use BT openzone and want to remove it completely.
Thanks in advance
Josh

This is useing the latest Vodafone Mobile Broadband software for mac (4.07.04.00) and have tried it with the older E172 and the new K3770 dongle's. The issue is with the software itself, On a pc we had the same issue however we were able to remove the bt openzone profile on both the wireless network setting (win7 under network and sharing center > change wireless settings etc) and the vodafone connection manager (under connections then remove from the list under the wireless connection)
On MAc OS-X you can remove the bt openzone profie from the preferred networks list (under network > wifi > advanced) however you cant remove it from the vodafone connection manager. And as mentioned before if you start the vodafone software again it will then add itself to the preferred networks list and you have to go and remove it again.
I did find in the vmc_enterprise_install_guide.pdf on the vodafone website that you can alter the default profiles on windows xp/7 by editing the MobileBroadbandprofile.xml file located in the users\appdata folder however on the mac it doesnt seem to create this xml anywhere.
On a side note this is for buisness use hench why we dont want to use bt openzone.

Hi jjeffries,
Thanks for your patience.
To remove the connection software please follow the below steps:
- Launch System Preferences from the Apple icon
- Select Network
- On the left hand pane select WiFi and then on the right hand side select Advanced
- Under the WiFi tab you will see the BT Openzone preferred network
- Select this name and press the '-' (minus) key which will remove this
- Press OK then Apply
- Launch the VMB software and you will see the BT Openzone will be deleted
I'd appreciate your thoughts on how I've handled your query - eForum Survey
Cheers,
Lee
