Re: New iPad price

That's still a lot more than iPad 2 was as new ipad is same price to buy as iPad2 was without contract. It was no up front cost for 16gb, £50 for 32gb and £100 for 64gb on £32 per month. As the iPad costs the same then this is a lot more money which isn't really a reward for customer loyalty. Especially when you see Vodafone in other countries ( eg Australia) there is no upfront cost on any new iPad and it works out around £32 per month for 16gb for new customers.

Re: New iPad price

The prices are a horror, that's for sure. I only paid £50 upfront for a 32gb iPad 2.

Spoke to someone this morning who also wanted me to pay next month's bill in advance before I could connect an additional line. I am a reasonably high spend customer (£120-150 a month) and pay by DD. Ridiculous.

Might go and look at Three. Alll my contracts with Voda are up this year and it might be time to go.

Re: New iPad price

The price of the ipad this year to last is exactly the same - £645 for a 64gb 3g wifi. so they cant say the cost has gone up.

Last year the vodafone customer deal was £32 p/mth with a one of cost of £100  (total over the 24 months of £868)

This year the vodafone customer deal is £32 p/mth with a one of cost of £219 (total over the 24 months of £987)

a brand new customer will get a deal of £27 p/mth with a one of cost of £345 (total over the 24 months of £993)

so existing (long standing and loyal) customers get a saving of £6 this year.  Woopee doo.

Total cost going with 3 today would be £899 !!

This stinks Vodafone and as a customer of over 10 years, with 3 current mobile contracts and an ipad 2 contract, I am one very unhappy customer just now. I was phoning this morning to take 2 brand new ipad 64gb's over 2 years and you couldnt even come to a deal for me. Disgusted isnt the word.

Not quite sure how Vodafone can justify these prices - which are significantly higher than Three's. I sincerely hope they'll be doing similar existing customer deals as previously with the iPad 2 (these were available at launch or at the very least just after launch) otherwise I'll likely be off to Three too.

Three make a loss on most of their contracts wheras Vodafone at least want to break even.

Vodafone's pricing is not dissimilar to that of Orange/T-mobile. O2 are not even stocking it!

If you're all so unhappy with the deals go buy one straight from apple!! It doesn't matter that it's the same price as the iPad 2 it's a brand new product!! Hey Vodafone why don't you just hand out free iPads and while you're at it scrap the monthly payments FREE all round!

Re: New iPad price

Go with three and you will regret it. It's as they say you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay Vodafone the extra for a brilliant service

Re: New iPad price

Well I decided I would get one. I got the white 32gb for £119 and £32 per month which will work out at £887 over the full term. So if you take £579 off that for the rrp of the iPad then that leaves £308. Divide that by 24 and the effective cost of the data is £12.83 per month.

I'm actually very happy considering I got an "existing customer" deal for my iPad 3, but if I was a new customer given the advertised prices I'd definitely be going SIM free from Apple and a 30 day contact or going with Three.

As for Voda needing to break even on their pricing - thats fair enough as they are in the business of making money after all - not a problem, but that doesn't necessarily help the average consumer looking for the best deal.

Same deal I went for in black. :smileyhappy:

So surely if that is such a great deal, in your view, would it not be commonsense for you to go for it rather than fretting over not being able to get what you want from Vodafone?

The bottom line is Vodafone needs to do more than break even, it is a business and not (as many people seem to think) a charity.
