I have an iphone 3GS which was unlocked through Vodafone. I put in a tmobile sim card and have "no sevice" . I have also tried a 3 sim card, and an O2 sim card. I have connected to itunes and performed a software restore and still no joy. No carrier is indicated on the iphone. I went back to vodafone and the phone was unlocked again but still no joy. Am I doing something wrong!!????

Also having checked other postings I never had the "congratulations " screen on itunes.
Can someone please help me as I would like to give my old iphone to my daughter, a poor student teacher!!!
Thanks

If the phone was unlocked it would not lock again, so it sounds as though the unlock was never fully processed.
It is probabll worthwhile completing the unlock form again and then waiting 4-5 working days before connecting it to iTunes using a non Vodafone UK sim card in the same way as you have already tried.
When you have another sim in the phone does iTunes return a message that the card is incompatible?

I am having the exact same problem as you. See my post in this forum.
When you connect to iTunes, are you able to do a system restore as they suggest? As I am not able to do so!
Glad to know i'm not the only one having problems with this whole unlocking thing......

Thank you. This was the second time I tried. I have now had two confirmations from nuc resolutions that the phone is unlocked. I have tried with different sim cards. On the top left hand of the screen it either says no service or searching.in the about menu it says tmobile uk 12 when it has a tmobile sim in it. On the settings screen it does not say tmobile on carrier and cannot find any network. Is there anything else I can do -apart from completing the form again?
That does sound strange as if the phone was locked you would ger a message telling you the card was no compatible.
When you connected it to iTunes did the card have the T-mobile sim in it? If so it should have picked up the correct carrier setting from iTunes.
In the settings .> general > network > cellular data network what is in the settings?

Hi jasmineg
Thank you for your posts and all the information you have provided.![]()
It certainly sounds as though your device has been unlocked as you mention you have seen other providers connected.
Are the SIM cards from the other providers still active? I know with a PAYG SIM on our network that they will be deactivated if it has not been used for some time.
Please can you advise which operating system you are currently using.
Many Thanks
