PIN not required when phone is charging?

My wide has a 3GS phone which requires the PIN number to use when it;s been off or dormant.

If, however she turns her phone off and then plugs it in to be charged, it doesn't require a PIN number. Is there a way around this? otheriwse, if anyone steals the phone, all they need to do is plug the charger in and use it as normal?

Re: PIN not required when phone is charging?

Hi,

Never come accross this before to be honest. I would try to sync the iphone with iTunes then restore it to factory settings and then try it and see if it still does the same or even contact apple and see if its a design fault.

It shouldnt do that as far as im aware.

Regards

Re: PIN not required when phone is charging?

Hi ferris69

I've just tried this on my iphone  and when plugged in mine returns asking for a PIN.

this definitly sounds like a handset issue

I would suggest following Amzy's advice.  if this doesnt work I would also suggest a repair.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice.

I notice on my phone that if i switch it off at night and then put it on charge, it comes back on again, is this normal??

It also, doesn't then ask me to put the PIN number in which i had set up in the settings menu??

Re: PIN not required when phone is charging?

Hi ferris69,

Very strange...

From your description, one would assume that you've got a SIM PIN activated for startup, rather than the normal PIN where a request is prompted when resuming from the dormant status.

Have you inadvertently altered anything by mistake?

Can you check the passcode lock is set to 'on' for me?

Let me know.

Cheers,
