SIM Card for an American iPhone

When I was in Germany last fall, I bought a Vodafone SIM card for my iPhone 5S. It worked for a day, and then stopped. I'm not sure what happened or if I supposedly bought only one day's worth of usage. I'm heading to Italy, Switzerland and France this summer, and would like to be able to use my iPhone for navigation in Europe. Would that SIM card still be usable? How would I reactivate it? I need some helpful information for what I would need to do to use it again and have it work for me throughout my visit, which will be about 18 days. Does Vodafone have a US office where I can talk to a support person?

This forum only supports Vodafone UK and the team here cannot answer questions relating to another Vodafone network.

Why not download a free sat nav app like Navfree that downloads the maps to the phone and doesn't need a data connection?

So, how do I find the DE Vodafone customer service folks?
