Hello all, My mother purchaced an iPhone a while back and now she has given it to me. I keep recieving "scam" texts and I have no idea how they are getting my mobile number. I recieved two of these texts within two hours today and its becoming rarther anoying. these texts that I recieve say:

"URGENT - Please ring 01772557635 we need to speak to you about a personal matter as soon as possible. Ref:242375229 iQorPOBOX82pr13EL"

For some strange reason my mobile does not say what number was used to send me this message but says that iQor was the sender.

I have contacted vodafone and they cannot do anything about it. They told me about an app called Vodafone Guardian but it is only available for android users, not ios.

Is there also a way to stop these texts.

I'm afraid that there is no ability with an iPhone to block calls or texts from individual numbers and there is no app for an iPhone that will do that either.

If Vodafone is not able to help then you will either have to put up with the inconvenience or change your number.

I have googled the phone number and Iqor and it is a debt collection service. Perhaps you should call them and find out what they want. Where did the phone come from? Could the calls be for the previous owner?

I have read about this in other forums about other vodafone users seem to be getting these texts and calls as well. How come Vodafone cannot do anything about it? and thank you

oh and the iphone came from vodafone directly and the previous owner was my mother and she too was getting these texts and calls.

If you call the company and quote their reference they will tell you who they are trying to contact for repayment of a debt. If they have made an error you can sort it out with them, blocking their calls will only lead them to other methods of trying to make contact. Did you take over the phone number as well as the phone from your mother?

Yes I also took over the number. I have answered one of the calls before and told them they have a mistake. The said that they need my details before they can discus anything so I put the phone down. There is no way of communicating with them unless you give them all of your details e.g. Address, card details.
