USB Dongle & iPad 2

I have a USB 3G Dongle and would like to move the SIM between it and my iPad 2. Clearly, I need to use a uSIM adaptor with the USB Dongle. I know that there is an issue with Data plan on the iPhone because Apple use the Tethering APN instead of the Data APN.
Does this problem exist with the iPad 2 or will an existing USB 3G Dongle Data SIM work (with a uSIM adaptor)?

Hi gs_duncan,
There shouldn’t be any issues with using your SIM in the iPad 2 as long as you are using an adapter as the APN’s will be the same as you use for the dongle because you are not tethering the data to the iPad 2.
However an alternative option for you would be to use a sharing dock that you connect your USB Dongle into and connect your iPad 2 to the Dongle via WIFI.

Hi James,
I have an iPad SIM only plan and I was wondering if I could get one of your "Mobile Wi-Fi" device so I could use my micro-sim (I have a micro-sim to stardard sim adaptor) with it to sharing Internet connection when needed. I have poped into one of your vodafone store and they said I have to sign-up for another contract in order to obtain the device. Is there any other ways of getting it ? l

Hi wsc9005,
Unfortunately you can’t get the mobile WIFI without taking out a new connection either for 18 months or on a 30 day rolling agreement.
If you already have a Dongle then the sharing dock would be the best solution as this converts the dongle into a WIFI signal for other equipment to use however, the only down side to the sharing dock is that it does need to be plugged into a wall socket.
