To complete the unlock you need to place a non-Vodafone sim card in the phone and then connect to iTunes, when, if it is unlocked, you will see a message telling you so.

Ther have been reports that some people have not been able to complete the unlock if their iTunes account is not for the same region that they are connecting to iTunes from. Is you iTunes account a UK account or a HK account?

Re: Unlock Iphone4

You may have run into the problem i referred to in an earlier reply.

Some people have found that the iTunes region you connect the phone to unlock it needs to be the same region as the one where you have your iTunes account.

Is your iTunes account based in Europe or Hong Kong / Asia?

Re: Unlock Iphone4

There have been posts from people who have experienced problems when going through a store so you are probably better off using the NUC form. Remember that you will need to have £20 credit on the phone as that is the unlocking charge.

Re: Unlock Iphone4

Dear technician,

I tried to fill out the NUC form: http://campaigns.vodafone.co.uk/UnlockCodeRequestForm/ but it reply me that my iphone is blacklisted.

I don't know how my iphone is blacklisted and what will happen if my iphone is blacklisted?
My friend give me the phone as a gift.
I am in China now and the phone can not use the sim card in China. I do not have an account of your company.
Is there anythind else I can do to unlouck the iphone.
I hope you can kindly offer me some help.
Thank you very much!!!

Re: Unlock Iphone4

The reason the phone is blacklisted is because it has been reported as stolen or lost. Your friend gave you the phone and then claimed on insurance for a new phone. It will be impossible to get the phone working again I'm afraid. Only the original owner can do that or, if I am right, the insurance company that owns it.

You are the victim of a common scam. I hope the phone was given to you and you didn't buy it. If you did buy it you have lost your money.

Re: Unlock Iphone4

Thank you

Re: Unlock Iphone4

Possible? Maybe.

But it does not change the fact that only your friend can get it unlocked, and if as you surmise he failed to finsh and pay for a contract then he would have to pay whatever is owing,

I would still favour the previous explanation that the phone was reported lost or stolen. Why not ask your friend?

Re: Unlock Iphone4

Hi I have upgraded my handset and will be giving my old iphone 4 to a friend, I have requested my phone be unlocked and been advised it will take 7-10 days.

Will my friend be able to do the unlocking himself? and what is the procedure is it simple?

Many thanks

Re: Unlock Iphone4

Your friend will need to connect the phone to iTunes with his non-VF sim in it...

If the process has been successful then it should be as easy as that.

Thanks for the quick reply, will I get notification from Vodafone when it has been unlocked?

And does it take 7-10 days?

Re: Unlock Iphone4

I don't think you will get notification as it isn't actually vodafone doing the unlock.

Vodafone pass the request to Apple, and once with them the timescale could well be 7-10 days... a month or so ago people were reporting up to 3 weeks for an unlock to happen.
