Greetings,
I've just upgraded one of my vodafone subscriptions to an iPhone4s, and I now have a 3gs at hand, that I'd like to use as a wireless device.
The problem is, none of the apps that use the Internet seem to work on the 3gs. They just quit, iPhone falls back to main screen. I can see the apps at the background, but I can't switch to them. Is this a known issue? Obviously the line won't work on the old 3gs now, but there are many apps like internet radios etc than can work using my home wireless connection. Actually I used to turn gsm off and use wireless only to run those apps before the upgrade, and had on issues.
Now the old phone can't seem to run anything other than safari or the mail client. Any ideas what is wrong here?
Kind regards
Seref

Hi sarikan
Thanks for your post and welcome to the eForum ![]()
There should be no reason why any apps that require a data connection will close down automatically if you're using Wi-Fi. Also, the Wi-Fi connection is clearly working as you're able to use safari and e-mail.
As a first suggestion, I'd recommend getting a free PAYG SIM card and placing that in the phone. You can pick one up free from store or online here - Vodafone PAYG SIM. You wouldn't have to top the SIM up with any funds initially, just dial 1789 to activate.
Should that not work I'd maybe also recommend a back up and restore via iTunes as this will reset some of the initial setup features of the phone without losing apps, data, etc.
Thanks
Simon
