Just did completed my form and submitted it tonight, anyone give me any insight on how long it'll take to receive the code?

Here's the deal. I had my phone replaced by apple the other day and as I walked out of the store I checked what carriers would be accepted on it, it said all of them, but tonight it's not doing that, it's saying just vodafone, slightly confused

Unlocking usually takes 3-4 days.

However there is no unlocking code for the iPhone. The number that you receive from Vodafone is the reference number of your request.

Vodafone ask Apple to unlock the phone, Apple then change the phone’s details on their database to show it is unlocked. Once Apple have processed the unlock request the next time you connect the phone to iTunes you will get a message in iTunes that the phone is now unlocked. The message will also ask you to insert a sim from a different network to the one the phone was locked to which will complete the unlocking. Once this is done the phone will remain unlocked. Basically using a non-VF sim forces the phone to go to iTunes to look for new carrier updates and it then finds if the phone has been unlocked.

If the phone was  locked to Vodafone when Apple replaced it for you the replacement would have also been locked. Apple replace like for like

It seems some people get notified and others do not.

The best thing to do is to wait 3-4 days and then with a non VF sim card in the phone connect it to iTunes, if it is unlocked you will see the message telling you so.

I have taken a look at this for you this morning ands can see that the phone has now been unlocked Please replace the SIM (use a SIM which has never been used with this iPhone) and connect to iTunes or perform a software restore.

Firstly you need to complete the unlock request form http://campaigns.vodafone.co.uk/UnlockCodeRequestForm/

Yes it is free unless it is a PAYG phone, then it is £19.99
