iPad 2 + 3G problems

Hi all,

Recently got an iPad 2 64 gb, wifi + 3G.

On wifi its a dream, on 3G its a nightmare.  It will load a page maybe once or twice in every ten attempts and even then it is painfully slow.  More often than not though, it simply says Safari could not load the page.  For reference, I am in the centre of Leeds and have a full 3G signal (5 bars).

As a control test, I also have an iPhone 3GS.  This is also receiving a full 3G signal and loads pages fine.  Nothing like as fast as on wifi obviously, but at least the pages load in what I consider to be a time.

Out of interest, in the settings of the iPad it doesnt display the sims phone number but I am unsure if this is related and am unsure how to add the number to the settings.  Additionally, in the Network settings of my iPhone there is an option to "Enable 3G" but this option is not present on the iPad.  Could this be causing an issue?

Is anyone else having this issue?  Do I have a problem with my iPad or is the 3G functionality of the iPad worthless?

Re: iPad 2 + 3G problems

Hi Dilinja

Weird I find my ipad2 with 3G is pretty good. I find the antenna design on the device gives me better coverage than most of the handsets in my house.

Which postcode areas have you found this to be affecting? I've searched your home postcode which shows a really good 3G coverage.

Thanks

BenJ

Re: iPad 2 + 3G problems

Thanks for the response BenJ.

My home poastcode is LE12, Burton On The Wolds.  Vodafone reception is terrible there.  When I am in the house I am unable to use my handset, let alone the 3G on the iPad, but thats not an issue because of the wifi.

I am predominantly trying to use the 3G when at work in Leeds.  I have a full 3G signal when there, but find that loading pages is random at best.  At worst it wont load a single page.

Thanks again.

Re: iPad 2 + 3G problems

Hi Dilinja

Thanks for getting back to us with the postcode, I have done a search for the area with that postcode but can't find a location for it.

Can you please confirm the postcode so I can check the cell site that you are connecting to.

Thanks

Martin
