Hi there, I got iPad 2 as a gife last month by my friend , and he was using this iPad from vodafone carrier. Now when I insert the new sim card , its says SIM CARD Failure, is my iPad 2 needs to be unlock first prior to use different carriers? Please someone help me to find out this issue and if so please let me know how can I do that. advance Thanks a lot for your helps.

thank you for your reply. I went through the link you provided but its asking for Pay monthy and pay as you go , I dont have a clue, wether that SIM is belongs to pay monthly or pay as you go... and also my friend also not here at the moment, She is in Philipines and I dont have any contacts so far. please kindly help me, as I am in desperate for using iPad for my business presentation for my company.

The iPad can only be unlocked by the original owner so you would need to get in contact with your friend in the Philippines to request the unlocking of the device. I appreciate that this will be difficult if you don't have a contact for them. However, for security and data protection purposes only the original owner of the device can request for it to be unlocked.

Hi Sukhi,

I have sold my Ipad2 to one of my friends friend back in may 2012. Due to some unexpected family issues, I had left UK for good and wasn't able to inform him. Recently i heard that he has been trying a lot to get his iPad unlocked. I feel sorry for him and I just wanted to get that iPad get unlocked. What all the details do I need to give to get that thing sorted for him.

As you're the original owner it will need to be you who makes the request.
