Re: iPhone 4 tethering

@Simon -  With respect, your use of the word 'should' doesn't inspire confidence. Furthermore, the only reference I can find to Y4 is from these forums - and this takes me right back to my original post.

Please can you simply confirm that all 12 month SIM only deals currently on offer via your website are these mysterious Y4 ones, and that they will include iphone tethering.

Then can you please tell me how we will know when they are no longer Y4 ones, is this really too much to ask?

Thanks

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hi BorisBarker,

Please accept my apologies for the language in Simon's post.

I can confirm all Y4 plans have tethering included for SIM only.

All the plans on offer online are Y4 plans. I'm afraid I don't understand you final question.

You will know if you are no longer on a Y4 plan as your plan states 'SIMO4' and this will remain the same till you see fit to change the plan.

I trust this answers all remaining questions.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hi Lee, Thanks for your clear explanation! To clarify my last point: How will we know if the web offerings cease to be Y4 ones and have different hidden features unless the language used in the forums is matched on the offers. Perhaps simply describing the features accurately would solve all of this confusion. Thanks anyway. End

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hi.

I just called 191 to ask about Y4 and sim only deals, he said Y4 only relates to iPhone subsidised plans (cheapest Y4 plan cost £26/month). SIMo4 is the latest version 4 sim only plan (but it's not Y4), he said tethering is £5/500mb on SIM only plans.

Hope this clears things up.

Ben

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Dispite calling VF prior to using tethering and being told that I have it, I seem to have been charged £5 for tethering.  Is there anyway of getting my contract updated to include tethering (without paying more ie Y4 contract) or do I have to wait till the next time I upgrade and change my price plan?

and can I get a refund for the money I have been charged as "all VF calls are recorded" it shouldn't be too hard for someone to review what I was told and I was obviously told wrong?

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

I have been told by VF that recorded calls are only kept for 60 days. Can anyone comment on whether this is true?

Lee stated:

>I can confirm all Y4 plans have tethering included for SIM only.

>All the plans on offer online are Y4 plans.

So we know that an online SIM only purchase will include tethering - assuming that Lee can speak on behalf of VF - anyone care to clarify that?

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hi Guys,

When it comes to the iPhone tethering and certain price plans please see the following;

For SIM Only;

All new SIM only plans have the iPhone tethering option included as standard, if you ordered a SIM only online today then your would get this option included.

If you are on an older SIM Only price plan then we can add the tethering APN onto your account for you however you will then be billed £5 for 500MB of data.

If you have a normal monthly price plan and you are on a Y4 iPhone plan that will have Y4 PIN in the price plan then you will have your tethering data included in your price plan data.

If you are on a normal Y4 plan or any other price plan then we can add the APN on for you but you will be charged £5 for 500MB of data.

When it comes to calls that have been recorded, they will normally be kept for a period of around 3 months and then deleted.

James

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

I've just been checking my monthly usage and I have been charged for tethering despite it being part of my plan. I have used tethering before but don't ever remember being charged for it!!!

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hello dai_uk,

The 'Y' should be a part of your priceplan, not your account number :smileywink:

Cheers,

Lee

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Right.  Can someone please explain.  My current plan says "SIMO4 12 600M 3000T 1GB WF 12M".  I was offered this plan when I gave notice to quit at the end of my contract.  Under my old contract (£30 per month) i was charged £5 for tethering.  I have been on the new plan since April and on Saturday I was charged £5 for tethering.

This is still far from clear.

Should I have been charged?  Previous posts in this thread lead me to believe I wouldn't be charged.

I am far from happy that I am being charged to use data that I have already paid for.

Hi brianthebike

Thank you for your post and it is great to see you here.:smileyhappy:

The priceplan you mention certainly appears to be of the variety that includes tethering and so I can investigate this for you I have sent you a Private Message to follow, once we have your response either myself or one of the team will be in touch as soon as we can.

You can find your PM inbox here.

Many Thanks

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

I found this thread after googling as we have 5 iPhone4's that each have a Vodafone Onenet Express package + iPhone 1Gb data/Wifi package that was all taken out in August 2012 (costs £65 + VAT per month per handset) and was told we would not incur any charges etc etc as long as we were below our data usage limit (which we are by a mile).

I keep getting charged an extra £4.16 (.7) + VAT on one of the phones, which vodafone I have now found out is one of my users has tethered approx once a month and it makes no difference whether he uses 10K of data or 800K of data he is getting charged this.

After reading all of this thread should we have tethering included as the iPhone plan/part was taken out after 1/6/2011.

I've spoken to the Onenet Express team but they just want to sell me something for an extra £10 + VAT per handset per month. They suggested I asked on here as you guys seem to know more about it than they did. Slightly worryingly there is no way I can apparently stop any of my users doing this and they could inccur me £100's worth of extra charges without me or them knowing until the bill comes in.

My account code by the way doesn't have anything in the way of a Y4 code as it has a strange Onenet code instead.

Thanks

Wayne

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for posting. The details in this thread around inclusive tethering apply to consumer accounts only. As you're describing a One Net set up, the layout will be different. As we can't apply the same plans to business/corporate accounts that we can consumer, I'm afraid we'll be unable to assist further on your account for you.

Your business account manager will be able to confirm the charges for you and advise of any other tethering services that may be on offer for One Net customers. If you need any help with a consumer account in future though, you're more than welcome to come back to my team. :smileyvery-happy:

Cheers, Ben

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Does this mean that if I upgrade now to a sim-only plan and tell them I'e got an iPhone, I'll get free tethering? :smileyhappy:

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hi DimitrisX,

You are almost correct however to prevent any confusion you will be able t use your data allowance to tether your iPhone.

You don’t get free tethering you simply use your inclusive allowance to tether your iPhone to another device.

That's what I meant. And just out of curiosity, is this just for iPhones?

Re: iPhone 4 tethering

Hi DimitrisX

You can tether using any handset as long as you have a data connection however this will use your allowance alot quicker.

Thanks

Matthew
