I'm wondering if it costs me money to use my iPhone as a personal hotspot? I'm on a contract, or does it just use the 3G data which comes with my contract?

it depends on what price plan you have. The new ones include it in your data allowance, older ones dont. It uses a different apn so they can see if you are using it. I'd check to see what plan you have by calling 191 just to be sure.
