"Nearly new" handsets are generally ones that are returned within the 7 day cooling off period, so would be free from any signs of wear and tear. The box will have been opened and the phone may have been used, but not for very long - we also make a point of cleaning and refurbishing all of our returned phones so that it looks just like it did when it was first purchased and works perfectly
I trust that helps!

I'm sorry to hear that you have been sent something you werent expecting
You'll just need to get in contact with the point of sale which you took (In this case 191) and they should be able to get this swapped for you no problems at all
Give me shout if you have any more questions and let us know how you get on
Thanks

Hi ravindragali
Welcome to the eForum
it is always good to see new faces on here.
When an insurance claim is made nearly new phones are sent out as replacements, these are mainly handsets that have been returned with 7 days and are still in full working order, so you would get exactly the same quality of handset as you had previously.

I recently made an insurance claim as my iphone got stolen last week.. when my new phone arrived today it was a 'nearly used' which from this post I am pleased to see its only a 7 day old one etc etc, however upon opening my parcel I was disgusted at first to see it is 'nearly new'. When I was told a new handset was coming my way no one explained this to me and I have no paperwork for my insurance that explains this and I feel this is outrageous! I am fine to continue using the handset I have but I urge Vodafone in the future to make a habbit of explaining to customers that an insurance claimed phone is a used handset so they dont get any annoyed customers...

Hi
I've been told in a couple of Vodafone shops that nearly new iPhones are available, however they didn't have any stock at the time and so told me to call up. I've contacted the sales team twice who have disregarded what I was told snore and that only brand new handsets available. Do you know where I can obtain nearly new iPhones through Vodafone?
Many thanks
Simon

Hi
im abit concerned as i have been paying £12.99 a month for insurance thinking that the phone i really look after would either be fixed or replaced for a brand new handset, not someones cast off, as this is what happened when my BB was stolen.
I have had on numberous occasions problems with 'nearly new' phones with a different insurance company which resulted in me selling the phones and having to buy new. this is why i chose to take out one of the most expensive insurance policy on the high street.
so is it true i am paying £12.99 for an insurance policy that is no better that a £5.99 policy?
I would like to add that i was told in store when i agreed to take it out that, the replacement phone would be new and having used vodafone insurance in the past they have always provvided a new phone.

Hi Tom5865,
The Insurance policy is provided for Vodafone by Ace European Group Limited, and the result of the claim and any replacement handset is decided by them, not Vodafone. Price is governed by the type of handset, with the iPhone being in the highest band.
Nearly New handsets are not ones which have been returned and swapped due to a fault previously. They are handsets returned during our seven working day peace of mind period, commonly because the user simply decided the phone was not right for them. We also quality check the devices before they are made available to ensure that they are also "As New".
You'll find the details of the insurance policies we offer here, including contact details for any concerns you have to be addressed.
Dave
