It should work on the UK network, you would just need to get a Vodafone Microsim.

Yes, but you need to consider before buying it in the USA that the warranty is country specific, so if it should need returning to Apple for any problems you will have to return it to Apple in the States.

It may just be worth waiting until Apple release the iPad 2 over here, that way you can be assured that if the warranty is
country specific you'll still be covered.

okay, thanks, but i read some where that when you buy an ipad 2 in america, you have to choose a network you want it on when you first buy it because it is locked to a certain network, is this not true then ?

I don't know specifically about the Ipad but all Iphones in the US are locked to AT&T and now Verizon. AT&T do not unlock phones every for any reason even if the contract has been paid up and terminated. I would imagine the same is true of Ipad's.

Ive always though Apple warranties were word wide. I have 2 apple laptops, an apple tv etc all from the States. The warrenty for each of these is just as valide in the UK as they are in the US.

I bought a Three Mifi device for my WiFi only iPad. three's 3G coverage is much better thatn Vodafones (official).
Also reduces the iPad battery drain - as WiFi uses less power than 3G. Only downside is you only get 4hrs charge on the MiFi device, so have to keep charger (micro USB) with me.
