Re: iphone 4s unlock

It takes up to seven working days to unlock the phone, after that you need to connect it to iTunes with a non-Vodafone sim in it to complete the process.

Re: iphone 4s unlock

Hi thomasmckinney,

Thanks for your post here and welcome to the Vodafone eForum from all of the team.

I have taken a look at the references that you have provided and can see that they have been cancelled due to the requests for both IMEI numbers being requested on the same mobile number and we will only be able to unlock one phone IMEI per number.

To unlock both of the handsets you will need to raise two requests using the online form with separate mobile numbers.

A case of the dissapearing text :smileyfrustrated:

Have you tried inserting a non-Vodafone sim card in the phone before connecting it to iTunes?

There is no unlock code for an iPhone and the unlocking is completed by conecting the phone to iTunes, if it has been unlocked you will see a message to that effect appear.

Re: iphone 4s unlock

Hi angad2412,

Thanks for posting. A month is an awfully long time and it shouldn't take Apple quite that long to send the instruction down to the phone via iTunes. Can you confirm you've done as kids kindly advised in that you've popped another network SIM in the device before syncing it with iTunes? As mentioned previously, there are no unlock codes for us to obtain as you would with other devices.

Cheers, Ben

Re: iphone 4s unlock

Hi Vofa,

One of the eforum team will be along soon to help you but I can tell you now that Vodafone will only unlock a phone if it is active on the Vodafone network in the UK. if the phone is in Ukraine it cannot be unlocked.

Also if it was a pay as you go phone it has to have credit on there for 20 Pounds Sterling. If it was a pay monthly phone only the original owner can request the unlock.

So it looks like you have a problem. Where did the phone come from?

Re: iphone 4s unlock

Only if the phone is in the UK. Have you got anyone in this country you can send the phone to so they can turn it on here and get it unlocked for you?

Also if you bought it on Ebay you won't be able to know if it was a pay as you go phone or a monthly contract phone.

Ebay is not the best place to buy a second hand iPhone, especially if you don't live in the UK

To process an unlock the IMEI of the phone needs to appear on the Vodafone database and for that to happen the sim card needs to show the use of the phone on the network.

Re: iphone 4s unlock

Hi there Vofa - you would need to check with the person who sold you the phoen whether it was a contract or PAYG phone.  If it was a contract phone, only the original owner can request that it is unlocked.  If it was PAYG, as jeffkinn says above, it will cost you £20 to have it unlocked.  Either way, the phone needs to be active on the Vodafone UK network for them to process the unlock request.

Re: iphone 4s unlock

Roaming doesnt work I'm afraid - it has to be directly on the Vodafone network in the UK

You could try selling the phone on Ebay yourself to someone in the UK, but if it turns out to be a contract phone your buyer wouldn't be able to get it unlocked.

I'm not sure of the eforum team here can tell you if the phone was a pay as you go or contract phone from the IMEI. One of the team will be along soon to help you.

Re: iphone 4s unlock

Hi vofa,

Thanks for the updates here.

I can see that our users have given you a lot of details here however, I would also like to clarify that we can only unlock a handset for the original owner.

Due to this you would need to request the eBay seller to contact us directly to request for the phone to be unlocked for you.

James
