iphone upgrade

The Voadafone website tells me that I'm eligible for an upgrade - Happy days!

However, to reward my loyalty as an existing customer Vodafone kindly offer me the same deal to upgrade as they do for a new customer.

Ah, but it gets worse.  I currently pay £31 per month for 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 1024MB of data.  The 'wonderful' upgrade opportunity is £31 per month, 300 minutes and 500MB of data.  Great news - half as much data for the same price!  Adding £199 for an iphone 4S basically compounds the insult.

I would like to reward Vodafones fantastic service and customer loyalty by moving to another provider.  Can anyone tell me roughly how much it would cost to buy out my contract? (April 2012 I believe).

Re: iphone upgrade

brianthebike,

iPhone plans are fixed and the same for new and upgrading customers, this is because of the high cost of the handset.

Have you tried speaking to any of the twitter team about an upgrade? They specialise in upgrades and new lines! For info on how to contact them head over here and follow the instructions. They are a small and very popular team so they may not reply straight away, stick around though as one of the team will get back to you as soon as they can.

Of course you can cancel your contract at any time however it will be subect to an early termination fee.
This can be worked out as follows:

(number or months remaining X monthly contract cost) -VAT@20%= Early Termination Fee.

A final 2% discound is applied to your final bill.

A call to customer services on 191 will be able to give you the exact figure for your contract.

On your tariff you would be looking at around £75 to cancel now.

Thank you for your post and a very warm welcome to the eForum.:smileyhappy:

I am sorry you feel this way as the last thing we like to see is anyone leaving and the fantastic response from Nabs has pretty much covered all bases, however if you would like me to advise you of your Early Termination Fee (ETF) please just complete and reply to the email I have sent the address you registered with on here.

Many Thanks

Re: iphone upgrade

Like you Brian I have been insulted by VF and the supposed ' FREE upgrade'

I have been with VF for 20years and think this is a joke. I had a 3Gs from Vf and got a deal, as they can do what they want but give you the apple, blah blah wont let us, blah blah. So what do they do when my son wants his CRAPPLE upgraded.

My FREE upgrade was a hike in rental and a fee for the phone, how is the FREE oh and it would be less data too, so how is this an Upgrade Surley this is flase advertising.

SO if my son wants a 4s I have to pay the same as someone that has shown no loyalty to VF what so ever, so now I have one contract that expired this month, I have one that is up in April and one later thsi year, so I will take all 3 contracts, plus both of my parents to another network, so 5 contracts, plus friends that I will tell if I get a good deal at another network, all because of greed, and BS.

Re: iphone upgrade

I know how you feel. I've been a Vodafone customer for several years and the best deal they could offer is ......well nothing!
One of my freinds who was on Tmobile was offered and he accepted -900m + 1000m landlines+ unlimited txt+ 1gb data all for the price of the 900 min contract. Vodafone say that contract is unavailable I even offered his number so that they can check-they declined. My contract is up in June and I've decided that loyalty counts for nothing with Vodafone. All on the iPhone contract.

Re: iphone upgrade

I think this is the sign of things to come. I have 3 contracts with VF but I cant get a similar contrct to those posted on websites from each network provider and also have friends who seem to get the upgrades that suit them  without having too many problems.

Hi drew31,

Thanks for posting and welcome.

We’d love to see if we can help you get a great upgrade deal. Just reply to the email I’ve sent you and we’ll be in touch.

Let me take this opportunity to show you how Vodafone like to say thank you; take a look at VIP.

Cheers

Ian

Hey Ian, what about instead of doing things that not all customers would use. Just give us what you say we can have. If you want to know more I will email you to see if you can help, send me your email address.

Re: iphone upgrade

Hi Guys,

I understand your frustration however when it comes to the iPhone we are very limited as to what can be offered to new and existing customers.

Unfortunately this is the same with all networks and the deals you see online are the same for everyone.

When it comes to an upgrade the words free upgrade are very rarely used these days and our website now only says “see your upgrade options”.

Unfortunately this is due to the cost of phone increasing so much now with the newer smart phones having a cost of around £500 per handset which is subsidised as part of your agreement in line rental along with the cost to run the network and the business.

@ atacam,  we do try to accommodate any customer request when looking at an upgrade and if you would like to discuss your upgrade options with us simply follow the instructions on the PM that I have sent you.

James

Re: iphone upgrade

I am also having a hard time understanding this, I pay £45 a month and have done for as long as I can remember.  The company that I have bayed this to don't seem to be able to offer me the 4s at the same price, or even close to the same price as a new customer at at least two other providers. I just don't want he hassle of changing my number etc that changing providers would involve. Looks as though as it will have to be this way though! :-( Hopefully I will find out soon!

Re: iphone upgrade

Thanks again Dave.

Strange thing is James message has since turned up and I have responded to that with the appropriate code in the subject. I have also had an automated response from VF to say they will contact me within th enext 48 hours. Is this OK or would you rather me do it again, with the code you sent?

Re: iphone upgrade

I had the same problem. Must've been with Vodafone coming on 10 years but no discount on a handset was offered or tariff reduction to reward loyalty. I have just upgraded through Phones 4 U. Paying same price per month £36, and have upgraded my 3G to 4S, still with Vodafone and keeping same number. My phone arrived today! Had to pay £99 upfront as Apple demand but I have it in writing from phones4u that I will have a cheque back for this cost within 42 days. Never been through phones4u before but I certainly feel more rewarded from then than Voda!
