Hi Vernefc,

Apologies for the delay in responding to you however the eForum do work on a first come first serve basis and aim to reply to all of our customers within 24 hours where possible.

As you say the internet is running slow can you confirm how many bars of 3G signal you have?

Have you tried a manual roam?

To do this go to settings - carrier - Select a non Vodafone UK network

go to settings - carrier - Select Vodafone UK

Does this improve the signal or speed?

Is the issue only in one location?

What is the postcode of the area where you are having trouble?

If you can let us know it will help us identify where the issue lies and help in getting it resolved for you.

In the meantime, i would advise taking a look at our faults board for the latest known network issues.

Hi vernefc,

Apologies that your thread had been missed.

Ok, so the internet on your device is slow.

  • Can you confirm this is everywhere you go, or just in one place?
  • Have you tried your SIM in another handset? What happens?
  • Can you try another SIM in your handset? Again, what happens?
  • Have you checked our Faults Board for any known issues?
  • Have you tried any of the troubleshooting in our Network FAQ's thread?
I've checked your profile postcode. I can see that there is no 3G coverage whatsoever. If you switch to GSM only then this should resolve the issue.
The site that serves your area is 2G only and is to the North East of your postcode at South Ulverston. It's referenced 4264 and both calls and data are performing well right now with 100% call setup success.
I've checked engineers logs and there are no open cases for this site. There was a case opened but this closed on the 7th March. The reference was 2190357.
The good news to all this is that there are plans to increase 3G coverage in your area. At the moment I'm unable to provide you with a timescale but indications are that this is expected in the next 6 months. This is always subject to change due to outside influences such as planning objections and the like.
If you can get back to me once you managed to try that troubleshooting I've linked to, I'm sure we'll be able to get to the bottom of this.

If you have a spare minute, I'd be really grateful for some feedback on the service I’ve provided to you today. By clicking this link to the eForum Survey, you can leave me some feedback. There are just three questions and any additional comments would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: shocking internet

I have the same problem since Wednesday evening. I spoke to a lady at Vodafone last night who said they were aware of the problem but they are looking into it and it should be fixed by today. I still have the same problem and I spoke to a guy today who had no idea about this problem! Sort it out Vodafone!!!!!

Re: shocking internet

Thats the problem with vodafone one person will tell you one thing another well tell you something else and another will no nowt, half the time i think they just tell you what  you to no just to get rid of you.No disrepect to the forum team but online support is a waste of time for a quick fix seems it takes 24 hours to reply to a post then another 24 hours for them to replie again when you answer there question.Soon as my contract is up i'll be leaving vodafone been with them for about 15 years 12 of them on contract and still have the same number from 12 years ago,in this day and age you need to have the best internet available and they have no 3g in my area so i may as well move to a network that can give me it

I couldn't agree more vernefc!

Vodafone have been messing me about now almost a month or more, I get completely not signal whatsoever, and when I do, its 'fake' signal as it lets me do nothing - no calls, texts data - I am being told it's due to a mast problem.

I own an iPhone 4, which is a data intensive handset, it's useless at the moment, it's more like an iPod Touch!

I know from alot of friends and relatives who are also experiencing problems with the signal on their Vodafone mobile.

I am pursuing Vodafone to cancel my contract as it is now getting beyond a joke for me.

I pay almost £70 per month to them and they could not care less, all I get generic reply. How long can you apologise for the inconvenience???

Posting on here is useless for any form of useful help from Vodafone, but I thought I would post to let you and others know you are not on your own!

Re: shocking internet

Hi guys,

Vernefc - I agree entirely that the world today places a great emphasis on being online. As such, we've been rolling out upgrades nationwide to boost signal around the network and I can see that whilst you currently do not have 3G coverage in the Ullswater area apart from a few small pockets and there  are no issues on the local 2G coverage, there is a large planned 3G cell in the centre of town whish is due to provide a massive local improvement in the local network when it goes live in the coming months.

The general area from the Museum in the North-East through Dragley Beck down to Sandhall and the sands to the Southeast, whilst the rest of the surrounding area stretching out to the driving range to the South and Rossside and Plumpton Cottage to the North will have slightly weaker signal.

In the meantime, don't forget that for home service we also offer the Vodafone Sure Signal, which uses your home broadband connection to give you a private 3G cell - I have one and can attest to the difference it makes in the local area.

Spac3d - I posted yesterday on this thread in response to the issues you've reported - I've also requested that the details be added to the the faults board and to the tools used by our customer care teams. As I had to dig a little for the information, this may explain why a non-technical advisor didn't have access to the information on their initial systems.

andyhjones - I do appreciate that the work on cellsite 46824 is taking longer than we or you would like. I have checked and there is still ongoing work on the site scheduled in. Until the mast issue has been resolved, then it will naturally have an affect on the immediate area's connectivity.  I wish I could offer more assistance at this point, but I can only relay the details fed back from the work of our engineers.

Re: shocking internet

I live in the centre of ulverston ullswater is no where near me really so not sure why ullswater is mentioned i can drive 5 mins down the road and can see the mbile phone masts why the next town as 3gs is beyond me maybe because they have a vodafone shop. Also why should i have to buy a sure signal when the internet normally works fine on 2g but lately its been playing up yet vodafone just can't admit there is a problem in my area, even tho others have the same problem one member was even told there was a problem yet they won't admit to a fault on here.

So basically it's join our network pay stupid prices per month but if there is a problem we won't admit to a problem but tell our customers to buy a sure signal  so we can sell more and make more money. What use would a sure signal be to me,i can't carry it round we me to improve my connection when i'm out in town of watching the football  if i wanted to use internet at home i'd just connect to my router for that so no need for a sure signal

Re: shocking internet

Hi vernefc

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.

I have doubled checked the area, and as Lee mentioned it does appear that the cell site is working as normal.

Whenever there is an issue, we have a Faults Board area where you can see if there are any problems, and this is updated daily.

As there is no 3G in the area at this moment in time, I have no other suggestions.

Re: shocking internet

Hi vernefc,

Thanks for posting, I can definitely understand your frustration here.

As we've previously mentioned, there is no 3G coverage at your location, so internet speeds wouldn't be expected to be brilliant. Having said that, I can see that there is an outstanding alarm on site 4624. I've flagged this up to our engineers. I'd expect that this may be what's causing the issue.

Re: shocking internet

I no full well there is no 3g coverage as i stated that in other posts if you care to read them,i no i can only get 2g speeds and its not going to be brilliant but it was ok.If you also like to read my other posts i stated no connection at all,but weeks later finally a member of the eforum support as stated there is a problem and it will get looked into,i've check the ref 4624 on the faults board thing and it comes back with no result.

Re: shocking internet

Hi VerneFC,

Many thanks for your post here, I have taken a look at site 4624 and it now appears to be back up and running, can you confirm that you are still having the issue?

Does the speed get any better or worse during certain times of the day?

If you can let us know we will be able to feed this back to the engineers for you.

I've got a theory about 3G network issues -

Keep an eye on what the support guys respond with.
