sim card for iphone 3GS?

Hi. Having just acquired iPhone 3GS it doesn't seem to recognise my Vodafone sim card.  The phone is unlocked.  The sim card works in my Samsung but I get a No Service message on the iPhone.

But I note that the tray which holds the sim card in the iPhone seems to obscure part of the gold contacts on the sim card?  Could that be anything to do with it, are there specially designed sims for the iPhone 3GS?

A colleague showed me his 3 sim card which has a slimmer design of gold contact which does seem to suit the tray holder better (and does work in my 3GS).  Thanks.   Peter

If your SIM card is very old, a new SIM should solve the problem.

Take the phone into a Vodafone store for them to take a look, they will be able to give you a new SIM which will have the same number.

Re: sim card for iphone 3GS?

As suggested a new sim card was obtained from the local Vodafone shop yesterday.  But not working yet.  So how long does one have to wait for it to be activated?   Am I supposed to do something or should it happen automatically.
