Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

I'd like to be able to tell my SIII to auto-connect to my car bluetooth every time I get in, but I don't see this option anywhere. This means that each time I have to manually connect the paired car/phone. Nowhere in the settings do I see the usual blurb of " do you want to auto-allow connection" kind of thing, which I have with my other phones.

To clarify, the phone and car are shown as paired but bot connected, unless I force this manually by going into the phone, into BT, into devices and hitting the CONNECT button.

Am I missing something obvious in the settings?

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

I can't find anything in settings for this but my S3 has always connected automatically to my Bluetooth system. Connecting automatically must be the default settings. Perhaps the problem is with your BT unit. I would contact their support. Is it built in to the car or a separate unit?

Thanks for the reply. BT unit is factory fit, and works perfectly with HTC Desire HD and iPhone 4S, so unlikely the unit is faulty.

I didn't think it would be fully but possibly incompatible with the S3. Perhaps the car manufacturer has sme updated B software they could upload for you. What make is it? Have you googled the problem to see if there is a general problem with the S3 and your makeof car?

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

When you open Bluetooth up does it say paired ? and show your car in the list if so the phone does see your car
or do you have to scan for it every time.
now if the phone does show your car in the list, does your car see the phone?
This could be were the problem is car manufactures are well not up on bluetooth and the system they fit are often on Bluetooth 1 or if your lucky 2 now Bluetooth has moved on many new phones use 3 or as on the S3 were on 4, we had the same problem on the galaxy s , and that was down to the car manufacture.
this does not help you, well as you have another phone can you send files ok via them with out having to pair them all the time ?

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

Hi Dave

In light of your other post regarding screen going blank, I would suggest the phone may be faulty?

If you are within the 7 day cool off period I would arrange for a replacement, if not you will need to organise a repair.

Thanks - switching the sensor off cured the screen freeze, but this issue remains. I'm looking at the Ford ( Galaxy MK III ) website and also the Owners Club to see if anyone else has this issue, thanks.

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

It seems there is alot of people cross Format even the Apple lot have problems

I googled "ford bluetooth problems" and there is alot

All so in XDA there is a thread

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745537

i also found Fords compatability list

http://www.ford-mobile-connectivity.com/mobile_music/bluetooth

and a Worry the S S2 and S3 are not on the Galaxy Ace is Bluetooth V3

Were now on V4 on the S3

It is a worry that they want you to pic a phone to go with there car this sound like a problem for Ford to sort

as soup said i would get your phone looked at by Samsung at a service centre it may just need the firmware re falshing

This was a fix which worked for me to another issue elsewhere but it might help - basically had to start from scratch.

I paired my Samsung GS3 with Ford Audio (2008 Fiesta) last week . I changed from iPhone 4 which worked like a dream and it would have been a dealbreaker had the GS3 not worked with the handsfree in the car (I only need it for calls, not for music).

The Samsung connection worked perfectly for a week then just kept dropping calls. After a few false starts I debonded it from the car system and rebonded but same problem occurred.

However, after debonding again and switching off car audio, unpairing from the phone, switching off Bluetooth on phone and restarting phone. Then re-pairing and bonding again, it seems to have cleared the problem.

Also, on the phone a message pops up asking if you want Ford Audio to connect - I would advise leaving this pop-up and accepting each time. It could be coincidence but problems appeared to have started on mine when I ticked the 'Do Not Ask Again' box.

Bit of a palaver but hopefully this will help.

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

My S2 does that too, though it's on Gingerbread.  The car is a Renault Megane and its end of things has a choice of connecting as a phone or a music player.  I wonder whether the OP's does something similar and just needs to be switched?

The phone doesn't have any options for confirming connections, as far as I'm aware, though my old Nokia did.

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

The only thing I get is a pop up message asking to confirm that it is okay to connect.  It is a pain to have to confirm each time but when I ticked the 'Do Not Show This Message Again' box, that's when i started having the connection problems.

Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

I had auto connect issues with a parrot bt unit. I updated the firmware over bluetooth  using a pop and its been pretty reliable since.

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

You will find this is not the phone but Ford's system that's just will not do it most manufactures have tested the kit on phones that are so out dated its laughable most independent blue tooth manufactures do keep up with the times were as a new car has to work

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

Not that this probably helps but my Ford mondeo 2010 titanium x (Sony head u it) works fine with my S3 although from ti. E to time I have to connect manually, but think that's just it doesn't always see my phone has its blue tooth on as I'm also connected to my sony smart watch at the same time.

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

I have the same problem with my 2010 Mondeo Titanium and Samsung S3 handset. I never experienced issues with an Iphone 3GS or several Blackberrys.

As well as not pairing automatically, I also have issues where the speaker source changes without reason during a call. For example, I might be on a call in the car, but the speaker source changes from "bluetooth speaker" to "handset". I can't do anything when this happens as it would be unsafe to do so whilst driving. It's very annoying.

Another forum suggested switching off noise cancellation to resolve this issue, I've done that, but am yet to test it out.

I'll try the unpair / re-pair procedure described above to see if that resolves the bluetooth auto-connect issue.

Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

I had that issue to start with (Samsung S3 and Mazda6). I removed my car from the phone's bluetooth settings and turned bluetooth off after that. I then removed my phone from the car's settings. Then I started all over again with pairing phone and car and had no problems.

The phone should connect automatically when working properly...there is no other setting. And it may be a Ford issue. But maybe worth trying the above as well.

Re: Bluetooth - have to connect to car manually every time

Ok i will try and put this is a easy way

Car manufactures are by default two years behind Mobile phone manufacture

Why !!!

well its there fault

They hide behind a police they all signed up two and that is called Block redemption, this means they don't share information with any one

, this includes phone manufactures this means that any thing they do is in house and many like ford produce a list that will work

Now Many have made massive leaps in the Ford being one of them but they only cover new models

eg this years Ford focus works but 2010 ford does not

Now many manufacture are at last doing something

But there will be the New phone not working with a older car issue

but until they start to talk any compatibility issues need to be aimed at ford
