Looks like there will be 2 versions coming into the UK, one with NFR and the other without and rumours are that the first batch will be the latter. I've pre-ordered with another network just to have a quick play on release.

Strange that they were at the launch and supposed to be one of the big players. Or is it that they have to be branded up with VF Firmware.

Think you are band on right there NDJ, and prospective customers could well be fobbed off with any old excuse. There aint no ash cloud to blame it on this year!

Just been comparing prices on sim free SII's. Found one for £1242.00!! Doubt VERY much they'll sell many if any at that price and people using the internet to compare prices. Here is the site its on.

I just called vodafone CS who advised they could pre-order the SG2 for possible delivery on Friday. Although not officially announced it seems pricing information's already known to vodafone as I was told it would be free on my current tariff. Unfortunately they cannot increase my data allowance to 1GB nor match another deal offered to me elsewhere, so sadly it seems I may leave.

Really, Friday?

The Sensation (HTC) is listed as pre order and thats out on the 19th May. The SG2 isnt even available for pre order yet.

Just checked my online upgrade options and both the Galaxy S2 and HTC sensation are available on pre-order for delivery on the 16th. On an 18month £30 monthly contract the hanset cost is £70 odd.

Hiya,

Does anyone know why the SGS2 is available to pre-order as an upgrade but not for new customers? I realise that existing customers must get priority, but Im very keen to get my hands on this phone and want to join Vodafone after a bad year of contract with Orange.

it is typical of vf to do this when a new phone comes out.

It's available to pre-order for upgrades if you check online or call, earliest delivery is 16th of May, which is way ahead of some other networks.... however I got my hands on one today but I'm so busy I'm unlikely to have a good play with it until the weekend.

Quick views are

Size - overall size isn't much different and anyone coming from a SGS will easily adapt to it

Speed - The way it moves from screen to screen reminds me of the ipad 2, never has an android phone be so fluid, and that's the word....FLUID. Everything's faster.

TorchWiz 4 - Some clever modifications have been made, much easier to ad widgets to multiple screens and app drawer now supports folders, useful for bunching things like games, samsung crapware, utilities etc into dedicated folders. Such is the improvement I'm happy to use it for a while unlike TW3 which I couldn't stand from the start

Build Quality - The back cover is very flimsy, it's just a thin veener, I can bet most will have to replace theirs over the life time of the phone. In spite of that the whole phone feels a lot more solid, none of the creaking you get on the SGS.

Audio - Suprisingly for a thin phone the sound output is even better, this is the first phone that produces as good if not better sound than my old Nokia N95 8GB.

Overall - For an SGS user I won't break the bank to get the phone, it's a nice and worthy upgrade but not a massive leap.

Sounds brill!

So do we think that if the expected delivery date of May 16th for upgrades is right, then will it be available for non-existing customers around that date I suppose? Like I say, Vodafone is the best signal where I live and I don't want to renew with Orange for another 2 years, so Im keen to join ASAP really.
