Kies Error - GT-I9100 does not support initialization

2: Seeker Bronze

Hi All whenever I plug in my phone to Kies and click - Tools->Firmware upgrade and initialisation I keep on getting the error message:

GT-I9100 does not support initialization

I have tried scouring the internet but am having no luck finding a solution.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Why are you doing that ?
when your connected to kies click on your device name top left and it will then open another screen this is were it shows what firmware is on and if its upto date or if there is a update avalable going in the firmware settings can mess things up if kies says your device is upto date then the latest firmware has not been rolled out to you yet.

now if kids does not offer you the update and does not see your firmware did you update via OTA last time ?

I have just read the link previously mentioned and I am starting to think that my phone is unbranded even though i had through vodafone.

In Kies my CSs code isKH2 (XEU)

Will the vodafone update still apply to my phone?

And I was clicking buttons as im new to kies and experimenting.

@mathos

(XEU) indicates an unbraned phone.

Sorry, but the Vodafone update will not update your phone Smiley Mad

You could always put Voda Gingerbread 2.3.3 on it though and then upgrade via Kies.

Sometimes the simple answer is overlooked because it's technology that's complicated!

I put the 2.3.5 on it and kies had a nightmare so I am currently downloading the 2.3.3

I'm getting the same issue.

I get the big ole "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies" and when I try to firmware and initialise i get the error that my phone can't do that.

Are there known issues with firmware version: I9100BUKG2/I9100VODKE2/I9100BUKE1/I9100BUKG2 (VOD) ?

I'd assume the vod bits would mean i'm in with a chance of the upgrade, but Kies seems to think somewhat differently.

The strange thing here is

That branding a XEU phone to Vodafone  Voids the warranty on where he bought it from !!!

XEU Phones come from independent retailers such as Carphone warehouse or phones for you

The XEU will be out in the next phew weeks once they have sorted Vodafone out

Also you CSC will be set to XEU not VOD so Kies will not let you do any thing

I would stay XEU to keep your warranty with your retailer

I no there is a ooooo mad rush for ICS But trust me you will be disapointed its not what you think for all the effort

Yours is easy what happend was you did the OTA update this means that you will get a message next week saying that there is a update out for you.

Once you did a update on OTA kies will not alow you to update that way

But it will after!!!!

until Vodafone choose to only update OTA again which is a better way to do it

I've tried to do an OTA update and it gives me the error that my phone can't be updated this way, do it via Kies on the PC. I assume this is stopping me from receiving the 2.3.6 update. Hopefully all will be well on Tuesday for ICS.
