Samsung Galaxy S - What Does The H Icon Mean?

3: Seeker Silver
When phone is idle, on top taskbar, to the left of signal strength indicator, I have a H icon with arrows beneath it. What does this mean? Sometimes it switches to a 3G with the arrows. I know what a 3G network is, but a H network? Sorry I am not good with technical stuff. Lucky the phone is easy to use!

Hi , I believe you will find the H stands for HSDPA which is like a sort 3.5G service.

As above it's HSDPA - up to 7.2Mbps I believe.

When my samsung galaxy shows H icon, I could not make any out calls at all.
If H means highest connection why this happens?

two alternative solution I found are:
1. switch off and on again it can dial out
2. turn on Wifi for 1 mins and ti can dial out again.

Very wired connection for Vodafone to work on Galaxy.
any good suggestion to resolve this problem?

Thanks

Hello Peter KE

Welcome to the eForum.

The H connection signifies a superior and faster connection, however if your phone is unable to make calls during this then there may be a device fault or issue.

If you confirm your location (post code) we can study the sites in your area and which of them are pushing out HSDPA (H), additionally, do you experience this problem in any other areas where you have an H signal?

Thanks
