Unlocking Blackberry Z10

hi,

I recently got my Z10 on contract. I requested a network unlock code over a week ago and I still have not received it. I contacted Vodafone and nobody seems to know what is happening. I need it sorted out as I have to travel. What is the actual time frame and why is it still showing pending?  Can somebody please help?

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Vodafone havent network locked their phones for a few years now.

Have you tried using a different sim in it already?

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

BlackBerry on Vodafone have always been locked. I have had to request unlock codes to use a different sim on my phones and this isn't any different. My problem is that it is taking too long as my previous unlocks usually take less than 24hrs. I just need to know what is happening with my request

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

The Forum team should be able to sort this out.

Just so that you are aware, Z10 uses a micro sim, and therefore you will not be able to use your current overseas sim. Unless you are planning to get a new one, then check beforehand if they do micro sim.

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

I know it uses a micro sim and already have one waiting. I just need to get the phone unlocked. It's taking Vodafone too long to sort it out.

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Hi Dave,

I have sent a contact message with my details. I hope it can be sorted out soon cos the customer service people did not seem to know what they were saying. I spoke to 3 or 4 different cs agents and each one gave me a different time frame which i honestly thought was ridiculous. I was advised initially that it would take 5 working days which has elapsed. All they can see on the system is that it is pending...no one seems to understand why. I would really appreciate your assistance on this issue.

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Hi again,

8 working days later and no one seems to know what is happening and it is really upsetting. If it would help, do you want me to give the reference number I was given?

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Hi adinxtheman,

Can you supply your email reference number so that we can check your email has been received?

If you haven't already, please try a different SIM in the handset as it's possible this is already unlocked.

Thanks,

Kay

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Finally I receive an email with the unlock code and totally wrong instructions. The Z10 doesnt need any mepd or mep key combinations. Unlocking it is as simple as going to your sim card menu and pressing the unlock button. Anyway, the code worked, Now this is the amazing part of the story, Requested another unlock code for one of my other Z10's cos I have 2 and they gave me the code immediately over the phone. Now I'm wondering why my other request took 11 days? Anyway thanks for all the help and assistance Vodafone team.

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Could simply be due to the phone just being brand new and Vodafone having to contact manufacturer to request factory code.

I highly doubt Vodafone are able to unlock at will.

As for the person saying all Blackberrys are network locked, PAYG - yes not contract. February 2009 Vodafone stopped network locking contract phones if im not mistaken.

PAYG you need to wait 12 months (same as o2) and pay £15-20 if you request one.

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

All BlackBerry phones on Vodafone contract are locked, but you can request an unlock code for free. My Z10s are on contract, not pay as you go. All my previous contract BlackBerry phones on Vodafone have been network locked, and I'm talking about from 8790, to 9000, to 9700, to 9800, to 9900 and my Z10s, all of which I have had on contract with Vodafone.

"All BlackBerry phones on Vodafone contract are locked"

Mines on a contract and when i asked for my unlock code they said it was already unlocked and to just change the sim, I did and it worked.

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Ring customer services and request an unlock code. I'm sure they would give it to you immediately as they did on my 2nd Z10. Unlocking is very simple. In the sim card menu, just click the unlock part and enter the code they give you.

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Hi JibranAkhwanzada,

The majority of the handsets we supply are already unlocked. It's worth popping a different SIM in just incase.

You can request an unlock code here if the phone is locked to us.

Thanks,

Kay

Re: Unlocking Blackberry Z10

Still waiting for my unlock code, since 21st February, seems that one department looses the request and another finds it!.
