I have a 9300 curve and since i updated the latest App world my internet keeps dropping and my BBM is intermittent. Most of the time is shows 3G without the BB dots. Previously I had them constantly.
Please can someone help. My package includes BIS

There's not much to go on here - it's difficult to see how an App World update can affect the signal and link to RIM server (what the BB symbol denotes). It may be that the update has left the 9300 short on memory (funny things can happen if the phone is struggling for free memory).
A few things to try ...
1) Almost goes without saying - a battery pull. While you're at it, take the SIM card out before you replace the battery. Allow to reboot (without SIM) then remove battery again & replace SIM & battery. (To be honest, not entirely sure what this does over-and-above a battery pull, but it seems to help sometimes.)
2) Register via Host Routing Table (Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Menu Button > Register).
3) Resend Service Books (Email Settings > Menu Button > Service Books)
These two are usually achieved automatically by a reboot - but no harm done.
4) Forget about 3G for a while - force Mobile Network to 2G only. Is your signal meter showing GPRS/EDGE in capitals or gprs/edge in lower case.
If capitals, you're getting a connection to RIM server & BIS. If lower case, you're not & there's something deeper at fault (maybe with your phone or the network in your area).
Hope this helps.
