I have just suffered a total crash on my beloved Nokia E50 and purchased from Vodafone a Blackberry 9300 which was delivered today.

Some hours of updating operating system and desktop software later - it is 10:33pm and I cannot find a way to transfer my contacts from my Microsoft Outlook [2007] to the phone.

There MUST be a way ?

There are no contacts on my SIM card.

If you're using BB Destop Manager (sorry I haven't got access to a copy at the moment), there is an option to transfer contacts from an old phone or from a csv file or similar.

Check which file formats DM can accept then check what export options you have in Outlook (sorry, don't have this to hand either).

You won't need to export anything from Outlook, the software will sync it for you. AFAIR the first time you run it, it takes you through all the steps you need.
