Dont know about wifi but my old 8900 would automatically connect when i came home with it....Could any of you guys or girls give me any tips as to what might be wrong?

Hi barbelfisher,
This could be the handset or the settings on the WiFi router. The best way to narrow things down is to look to connect to an alternate Wi-Fi network to confirm the ability to connect is functioning as expected.
Can you try connecting to a public free Wi-Fi network or a friend's network and let us know if you're able to connect to that? If so, the function is working.
Next, can you try temporarily switching off any security on your home network and trying to connect again? Don't worry, once you've tried this you can reactivate the security straight away.
If you can connect with no security, then it's down to a security setting on the network. If not, but you could connect elsewhere, this would suggest an issue with the router speaking with the device. Try resetting the router and trying again.
Let us know how you get on, and if I've helped, pop me a little feedback!

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your reply. Yes trying it on a public free wifi network is a good idea to narrow things down ( I am going to sound stupid now but how do you know where a local one is????
I also dont know how to turn the security off on my router......My blackberry 8900 that i have just upgraded from connected easily the first time that i set it up with my wifi and when i came home it always reconnected automatically with no problems..

Many router's have a webpage-type setup program built in ... often found by typing the IP address 192.168.1.1 in to a browser (better from a PC wired to the router rather than over wifi).
If the 9300 works with security set to Open, also try WEP ... I found that my old Curve 8320 really didn't like WPA or WPA2 (preferable as more secure than WEP).
Did you transfer all data from the 8900 to the 9300 using Desktop Manager? I found that this automatically transferred all wifi settings (including passwords) to the new phone.

Sorted the problem....It was just a matter of pushing the reset button on the router and the phone connected to the wifi....
Thank You...
