9860 Back Button and BB Button not responding

I have been having major issues with my back button and BB Key buttons on the 9860 for the last few days. It has been working fine then all of a sudden they became non responsive and now hardly work which is causing me problems with programms not closing properly and draining my battery.

Installed the latest official OS last night thinking that this would cure it but after constant battery pulls it still has the fault. Is this something that anybody else is experiencing or have had in the past?

Is it possible to perhaps have a new replacement phone as I can guess the next step will be send it for repair but I am not happy about that as it is not very old.

Any help would be great.

Hi StormTrooper

Thanks for your post here. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your phone. I appreciate how frustrating this must be for you.

I’m afraid we wouldn’t be able to replace the phone for you but your warranty does cover you for repairs so head over to the link below for all the information you’ll need on how to get this sorted.

Thanks

Re: 9860 Back Button and BB Button not responding

I was having a non-responsive screen and multiple battery pulls weren't doing anything. Upgraded the OS today to the newest version  and now all buttons as well as the screen is non-responsive. Nothing seems to work.

Wayne, you said you won't replace, does that even mean if you can't fix the fault? So I'd have no phone and stuck with a contract? Surely the warranty states it'll replace if can't be fixed?

StormTrooper

I found this on whatconsumer.co.uk which you maybe interested in (with regards to mobile phones)...... "The law states that it should be repaired without significant inconvenience to you. If it keeps breaking down, you could claim loss of faith in the product, but in reality a significant proportion of phones which break down once, then break down again. Its unrealistic to expect that you will get another phone after only 2 faults – it is usually at least 3, so give them notice that if if happens for a third time, you will be seeking a replacement with alternative or a refund."

I'm taking mine to the shop tomorrow to get them to repair it in the first instance, if it keeps happening I'll request a different make and model.

Re: 9860 Back Button and BB Button not responding

Hi Wayne,

Thanks you for your help here I guessed it would need to go for repair :smileysad:

I have Voda insurance so would I be able to get a loan phone while mine is away?

Also I am not near a local VF store as I work away so could this be arranged to be picked up where ever I am?

Also as I have now gone over to the latest OS7 would I be able to have a loan phone with this OS so that I could load my info on?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you nblackwood for your info here I have been a user of VF for years and have been through the Storm saga's and remember some of this info from then. I dont really want to go down this kind of route as I have always had a good response from the eforum team and I know that if it is possible to get sorted they will do there best.

I will of course keep this in the back of my mind if things do go down hill. Hope You get to sort yours out :smileywink:

Re: 9860 Back Button and BB Button not responding

Hi nblackwood,

If your phone is faulty then we will be able to arrange a repair as per the warranty, details of this can be found in the link Wayne's provided above.

If the repair centre are unable to repair the phone then they will replace it for another phone of the same model. You would be informed if this were to happen.

Kind Regards,

George.

Re: 9860 Back Button and BB Button not responding

Hi StormTrooper,

Just noticed your reply as well.

If you've got insurance then you would be able to pick up a loan phone. This would need to be arranged in Store though, and the type of phone you'd get would be dependent on the store's stock levels. You'd also be able to specify where you want the phone returning to once it's been repaired.

Kind Regards,

George.

Hi George,

Thanks for your reply. Because I work away I am not able to get to my local store and the last time I had a fault you guys were able to send the phone to a hotel that  I was staying in. Is this possible to do this time?

Took mine to local shop and has been sent away for repair. Hopefully returns soon. Likewise StormTrooper had the Storm and Storm 2 but had no problems with them. Also been a VF customer for 12+ years and never had any major problems, so keep up the good work!

Hi StormTrooper

The only way to get a courtesy handset is from a Vodafone store, so I am sorry to say that we won't be able to send one out to you.
