BBM failed & unable to register to BlackBerry

Hi Forum,
Last night, I spent a long time on BBM... then about 10pm or so... very slow to send, then not at all.... nothing. The display showed EDGE connected, and the internet was fine. I tried to run though the Mobile network diags which in the past has re-registered my handset with Blackberry.... and the diags said that the handset wasn't registered, and it failed to re-register.
About midnight, it burst into life for 10 minutes, then failed again.
I suspect it's a cell problem, as i have no issues anywhere else.
Phonecall to Vodafone to log a fault ?
Cheers
Ian

Could be, but for a 2 hour outage it could be lots of things, if all is well now, then I would probably put it down to one of those things, and make a bigger investigation if it replicated itself

it's registering with BB, but refuses to show as connected to the BlackBerry Infrastructure in the wifi diags. Wifi is fine, and I can ping BB's server, and resolve their DNS entry from the phone, but it refuses to even attempt to use wifi. The Facebook app doesn't work except on the mobile network, which is slow for me.
I'm not particularly happy with Vodafone's tech support at the moment to be honest. They've given me Blackberry's contact number, and I feel like I've been fobbed off
My contract is with them to provide me with the 2 year service I pay for.
I will attempt a reload the OS this afternoon, but at the moment.... I'm not happy !

Hi Iainchir
I am sorry to see that you are having a few issues with your BlackBerry.
I would like to see what is happening but need to narrow this down, if you can answer the below questions that would be good:
1. Do you get GPRS on the phone?
2. Is it just the WiFi where you are having issues with the BB servers?
3. Is it just one WiFi hotspot you can't use or is it multiple?
If you are just having an issue with using the BB servers through your WiFi, there isn't much we can help with as it is not connecting through the Vodafone Network.
But if you can give us some more information on what is currently happening with the network connection and with WiFi, we will try to help you as much as possible.

Martin,
IT IS NOT A PHONE PROBLEM!!!!!
There is a problem affecting all the UK at the moment and most of Europe using BIS over WIFI, There are 4 threads on here, 1 on Crackberry, 1 on RIM and one on Blackbery forums reporting the same problem.
RIM thread HERE
Please stop saying it is a "user issue", "phone issue" when it is clear that it is a VODA / RIM issue!!
Morer importantly you would say it is not supported as you will get no revenue from BIS over WiFi despite the fact that it is a feature of the phone that currently does not work as it should. IN OTHER WORDS A FAULT. In my world all faults should be investigated and repaired as they are impacting a user.

A fault can exist at the biological level not just the electronic

Hi Broadsword
Whenever a customer is having any sort of issue, we can not assume that it is linked to any known issues that are currently occurring.
We still have to fact find as it might not be linked to that issue.
I know there is an issue currently with BlackBerry, but there is always a chance that it is not linked.

Any chance of an update???
Or even pass this on to the 191 CS teams so that they are all aware there is a BIS issue to stop confussion?
