BIS problem

I opted in to BIS on my Curve 8520 yesterday. Since then I've been trying to use BBM and set up email but it hasn't been working. After calling  I recieved the text to say I was opted in but it doesn't appear to be working. I took the battery out and put it back again (I switched the phone off first if that makes a difference).

When I showed it to some people today to ask how to get it working they said that gprs should be in upper case, not lower case as in on my phone.

If anyone could help me out here it would be greatly apreciated :smileyhappy:

Re: BIS problem

are you on contract or payt? if contract ring 191 and check BIS was added to your account. If your on PAYT did you have £5 credit when you requested BIS? if you didnt then it wouldnt of gone on. i'd also recommend you pull your battery and restart your blackberry as this would need to be done after BIS was added.

Re: BIS problem

I'm on payg, and the £5 has definitely been taken from my credit. I did also pull the battery, but so far nothing has happened

Re: BIS problem

Hi,

I have been having real problems with my phone ever since the day of October 10th when everything went AWOL!!...Not only that but i chose that particular morning to update my phones firmware too....lucky me eh?

Anyway, since that day (until this morning) my phone has not been playing. BBM and email simply would not work correctly.

So this morning i had had enough and called Vodafone to try and get my phone repaired or looked at.

I went through a series of tests and stuff without success.

My phone is now working correctly. What i had to do was to delete all the service books from my phone and vodafone support resent them. Take the battery AND sim out for 20 minutes. Reboot and voila!!...all working fine again. For now at least.

This seems to be the answer in my experience. So give Vodafone support a call and ask them to talk you through it.

Hope this helps.

Re: BIS problem

Hey ts1995,

Thanks for updating the thread. The fact gprs is in lower case would indicate that BIS hasn't been provisioned on your account. I've sent you an email to we can action this. Please reply with the requested details and we'll be in touch.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: BIS problem

Hello,

I have a similar problem with my blackberry 8520 curve that I bought today. I registered for the bbm service and paid £5 from my credit but it wont connect me to the internet or let me use bbm. You said in your previous post that the gprs should be in capitals and not in lower case. Mine is in lower case. Please help me!!!

Re: BIS problem

Hi Kate,

It can take up to 24 hours for Blackberry service to become active on your account.  It should be working for you tomorrow.
