BlackBerry Curev 8520 - Alarm Fault

Hi folks,Please please please can somebody help me before I launch my BB out of the window? I've had my Curve 8520 12months now and it has been great, until the track pad stopped working last week anyway. I got a replacement handset sent out, i backed up all my settings etc (but somehow lost all my business emails which is a nightmare). I updated my software to V5.0.0681 on the new handset and for some bizarre reason my alarm will now not set??? am i been stupid and missing something really simple because when i select 'set alarm' nothing at all happens and its driving me nuts!!! thanks in advance!! x
p.s i posted the question on the 'Blackberry techincal forum' 5 hrs ago and havent even had a response yet which is really helpful!

BlackBerry Curev 8520 - Alarm Fault

Hello SJ1878 and welcome to the eForum.

I'm not sure what responses you've had from the BB forums so far but we'll try to help.

Please can you advise what your original email address was, for example were you running an exchange account, webmail, etc then having the emails arrive at your Blackberry? In most cases the main email inbox should save a copy, ie Gmail, unless your device was set to delete emails from the sever. Either way please let us know.

Secondly, please try to perform a battery pull with the device switched on, this usually resolves most issues.

Let us know how you get on, thanks

Hi when you said that you lost all your business emails, was your blackberry connect to your company email? if your emails are web based ie hotmail, gmail etc, then the emails should still be on the web.

In terms of the alarm, I would try re-installing the firmware and see if it fixes the issue. Otherwise you could download an older firmware and try installing that to see if it fixes the problem.

Tbh I am not saying all refurb phones are iffy, but for me a replacement phone is possible a refurbished phone that was previously faulty, now working with mobile phones at work we have many refurb phones which just don't last long at all. Electronic devices of today are really compact and manufactured with precision. So refurb can be hit and miss! So it could be your replacement phone that is faulty, but the symptoms do point to a software fault.

Hi,
i tried the battery pull and upgraded the software to the latest V5.0..... and the alarm still isnt there! I have noticed that when I open the menu and select 'set alarm' the clock screen actually freezes for 10 seconds or so, if that helps at all?
as for the emails, i have a Yahoo account and a webmail info@sugarmonkeycakeco.co.uk when i installed my back up data onto the new handset i think they were there, but then it told me to confirm my new device pin number (which i did) and then they vanished, obviously i can get them when i log in on a PC but as i don't have one at home i totally rely on my blackberry!

Hi SJ1978

You would need to input the information in the email setup wizard option to re-validate these emails if you have a new device.

I don't have access to an 8520 currently but I will check to see if we can recreate this alarm issue.

have you performed a factory reset and not restored from your backup to see if these options are available? Some times when customers has software issues and perform a back up, they back up these software issues and restore them back to the device recreating the original problem.

Thanks
