BlackBerry - No GPRS signal

Hello, Not sure if this is the right forum for this....

I have a Blackberry Curve which I use for emails and browsing the internet regularly. Since the begining of this week however I have only had a GSM signal rather than GPRS- so although I can make/receive calls and receive and send texts, I am unable to use the internet on my BB or receive emails.
As I use my BB for work too this is starting to prove problematic. I have spoken to someone at Customer Services who said there was no problems with the masts that service my area. The UK Coverage Map on the vodafone website says there is no coverage for 3G and Mobile broadband in my area (SY21)- I don't know if that's relevant?

As I live in quite a remote place I have never had the strongest of signals, but I have always had GPRS and been able to use my Blackberry for internet and emails- this is a recent development!
It's not a problem with the phone as I was out of the area this weekend and these services worked fine and I had GPRS signal again.

Please advise, I am getting desperate!

Thanks!

BlackBerry - No GPRS signal

Yep! I initially assumed it was my phone (especially because I have recently returned from abroad)- So i have done all the manual selection of networks, hard reset etc to do with my actual phone. But, as I said, when I drive away from where I actually live I get the GPRS signal again and it works fine. I've read some other threads on here where people have the same problem and it seems to usually be a mast type problem, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this (and when it might be fixed!).

Hi BeckyL,

Thank you for your reply. I've taken a look at your postcode, whilst the nearest mast is 4 miles away, I can't see any network issues that would be causing this to happen. As you're in an area of fairly weak signal where this happens, it's quite possible that the SIM card may be struggling to communicate with the network efficiently, thus causing these issues. If you're able to, I'd recommend testing the SIM in another phone to see if the issue does still occur, if so then you'll be able to pick up a new one free of charge from your Nearest Vodafone Store.

If that doesn't make any difference then please let me know.

I don't have a phone which is unlocked for Vodafone usage- so if I put my sim in another phone I just get a "please insert correct sim" type message.

Hi BeckyL,

Thanks for your reply. If you don't have another phone to test the SIM card in, it's worth popping to your Nearest Vodafone Store to pick up a new one. Give that a go and let me know if it resolves your issue.
