BlackBerry Torch - Auto on/off question

Only one question I can't find the answer to. With my Bold I always used the auto on/off feature, and on the very rare occasions I wanted to use my phone in the middle of the night I could over-ride the feature by using the power on and off key.
That doesn't seem to work on my Torch, once it's auto off it stays off until the startup time the next morning. It's not the end of the world, I can change my habits and use 'bedside mode' instead, but I wondered if I'm missing something.

Let me see if I have understood you; are you saying that when the handset switches itself off via Auto on/off, you can't then switch the handset back on again until it Auto-on's?
I just tried it on my BBT and I was able to wake the phone up during its Auto-off time by using the red power on button.

Thanks for replying, and for trying it out! Yes, when my Torch has switched off using the auto function, I'm unable to switch it back on however much I press the red power on button. Everything else on the Torch seems to be working fine.
That is most odd as I just press the red button briefly and it switches on during Auto-Off mode. Perhaps there is a setting somewhere that locks the handset. Do you have an auto-lock switched on? Have you tried pressing the red button with the slider both open and closed?

I should try it again but I'm afraid of being locked out until tomorrow morning!

Well, why not change the auto on/off times to run for 1 minute from your current time (or perhaps one minute afterwards) to test it.

This is an odd occurence.
So far, it does look like it's only your device that is suffering from this issue. That would point to an issue with he device or a different set up.
I personally to not know of a setting that would give this result, but maybe one of our members could help?
Ultimately, if it's a fault, you have the option of an exchange, if the device is less than 7 days old, or a repair, if over this period.
Let me know how you get on.

I have a different problem linked to this one. I do not have auto on/off enabled, but my phone sometimes switches itself on anyway.
Also sometimes a problem switching off on the Power button. It goes off OK using power off on the screen.

I have the same problem with the Off button. It only works when it feels like it. Usually if i tap anything on the screen before pressing the button it works, but not always. Switch on screen always works.
I also have issues with volume control. If I am playing music the volume control changes tracks. If I press it a couple of times it decides to work as a volume control.
Time for a software update?
