Blackberry 9780 - cannot get text message icon to stick as a favourite

I am using a blackberry bold 9870. I click add to favourites on the text message icon, and it appears in favourites.

Great.

However randomly (reboot/X ammount of hours/Open an application) the icon is removed from the favourites. All other icons stay, but the text mesage icon won't stick.

Is this a common problem or am I do something wrong ?

Hi darcym

Thanks for your post here. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with this. I'm afraid I don't have access to that handset at the moment to be able to test this for you, however, I'm going to pass this over to our day team to have a look for you.

Until then, if any of our other eForum members have any ideas please let us know :smileyhappy:

Thanks

Hi darcym

Hmm that is odd and I'm willing to guess that it's fairly annoying if you have to keep linking to your texts in this way.

I just checked with a colleague of mine who has advised me that this is a known issue and is due to be addressed in the next firmware update.

What firmware version are you running on your 9780?

To find your Firmware version:

  • Tap All
  • Scroll down to Options, then press the Trackpad key
  • Scroll to Device, then press the Trackpad key
  • Scroll down to About Device Versions, then press the Trackpad key

It might be worth  plugging your phone into the BlackBerry Desktop Manager  and checking for an update:

I would also suggest  potentially trying to wipe the handheld and seeing if this resolves the issue.

To factory wipe your handheld:

  • Tap All
  • Scroll down to Options, then press the Trackpad key
  • Tap Security
  • Tap Security Wipe
  • Tap the data which you would like to wipe to mark it with a tick
  • Tap the Enter "blackberry" to confirm wipe: field
  • Enter blackberry, then scroll down to and tap Wipe.

Please let me know if your still experiencing a problem.

    Thanks
