Hi all,

I'm trying to get mobile Internet access on a Blackberry Bold (originally from O2, but unlocked).

I'm using a Vodafone PAYG SIM; it used to be on contract a couple of years ago, but I downgraded to PAYG as I was using a company phone mostly.

The Blackberry shows a strong 3G signal, but will not access the Internet - its browser claims "There is insufficient network coverage to process your request".

Under Options -> Advanced -> TCP I've set APN to 'pp.vodafone.co.uk' with the username & password both 'web', which I gather to be correct.

Is there another step I'm missing to get this working?

I should add that yes, the PAYG SIM has credit (£10-odd), and also I've tried this with both 3G and 2G, neither work.

Also, I've tried using "wap" instead of "web" for the username & password when entering the APN as I've seen that mentioned on the forum, but that made no difference.

Ah, damn. I did find a post by Daz_Vodafone suggesting that getting basic Internet access working by entering the right APN settings under Options -> Advanced -> TCP would work, I assume that's erroneous then?

At the moment we don't support Blackberry under PAYT, so you'll be unable to use any data services, just calls and SMS I'm afraid, so AnnS is 100% correct in her post.
