Never heard of the flash issue? Have you tried going back to OS 5 to see if that fixes it?

There have been a number of people mention that their personal data was not restored after the update.

Updating to OS 6 or going back to OS 5?

Both. More often upgrading though.

I would always manually backup my data before leaving DM to it's own devices. :smileyhappy:

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

Ah right...

I noticed when I went back to OS 5 after it put the OS back on the phone the port light went out on my USB HUB, and the phone just sat there on the restoring section it was obvious the phone was not communicating over USB.

So I checked the phone, to make double sure it was not communicating with the DTM. The unplugged the USB lead and plugged back in.

Then the restore carried on. :smileysurprised:

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

I doubt it is just me, but I cannot upgrade my Bold 9700 to OS6. Nothing is showing in the downloads section of the BB website, nothing happens when I go to upgrade using Desktop Manager, nothing happens when I try the Update Tool on the BB website, and nothing happens when I try to do a wireless update.

All the messages are the same: they say I have the most up to date software, but I am running OS5 and I cannot work out how some people here are getting upgrades but not others. Can anyone give me any pointers?

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

Hi howard-moore.

I have raised this to see if we can find out what is causing this for you.

In the meantime, can I check if you have followed QyKo's suggestion responding to your previous post and ensured you're using DTM 6? It's always best to keep anything like this up to date.

Can you also confirm for me, so we can get a better picture of what's happening, that you're using a Vodafone UK-branded handset purchased directly from ourselves? If we can see anything which stands out then that may point us to the answer.

I'm sure we can get this sorted for you.

Dave

Hi Chris9r : it is out now for Vodafone 9700 handsets have you tried connecting via DM. It should offer you OS6. Is your bb from Vodafone online/shop or via another outlet.

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

As mentioned in an earlier post I also have the following problem when trying to conect to Vodafone Live

"The Item you selected cannot be displayed. Do you wish to save the Item"

I can't find a resolution.

Vodafone must have one?

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

Dear Red Robbo,

Do you have the official Vodafone UK os6, or the German one that users were installing in the earlier posts.

If you don't have the Vodafone UK one, try and install it and see if you get the same issue.

It can be found here:

http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/firmware.php

Let us know if it works for you.

Cheers

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

After downloading the latest DM from Vodafone I've gone back to the latest RIM version 6.0.1 B21 it's much better. I'm now downloading HH software version 6.0.0.1879 to see if that works.

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

Hi Guys

OS6 for the 9700 is currently rolling out now, which is why some of you may not have received this yet. If you dont want to wait, and want to manually install this, you can find the download on BlackBerrys website here.

I've just checked under 9700 and can see 0S6 waiting to be downloaded.

Thanks

The link you added Ben appears to be a dead link!? Had my Bold 9700 about 3 weeks, very pleased with it so far apart from the odd crash, and I expected it to come with os 6 on but didn't, will it be pushed to my bb or do I do it vie advanced options, wireless update? When I do this it say 'No new updates' ? just wondered if you can give a little more detail on the roll out?

Thanks

Jason

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

Hello driverjqp,

Try one of these links for the update. Worked for me, now running official Vodafone UK OS6 on a 9700:

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=1141938BA2C2B13F5505D7C424EBAE5F (select 9700 from the drop down list)

or if that link doesn't work, try this:

http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp (scroll down to Europe and then select Vodafone UK. As above, select 9700 from the drop down list.

Once you follow the pages, and fill in the forms, this will download the firmware to your computer. In order to install it onto your BlackBerry, you will need Desktop Manager (DTM) (found here: http://uk.blackberry.com/services/desktop/) on your computer. Once you have installed the Desktop Manager, make sure it is closed, then install the firmware you downloaded. Once done, plug your BB into your computer and when it has loaded the drivers, boot up DTM, wait for it to see the handset and it should ask you if you wish to upgrade. If not, select Device then Upgrade.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Thank you for your advice, followed step one and installed it, quite different and will take some getting used too, uses alot more memory than OS 5 OS 6 used 2% compared to OS 6 which uses 14% don't like the ring tone set up, rather they were all there to try by scrolling over rather than going into another menu and having to play every tone manually to test the tone for preference, any tips and tricks you can recommend?

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 OS 6 Update

Dear driverjqp,

Glad to hear it worked.

I've only had it a week so am still getting used to it, so as yet no tips apart from maybe backing it up before you play around with it too much.

That is unless you have anything specific you wish to know then I may be able to help. As for ring tones, mine is constantly on silent vibrate.

One thing though is the browser. No column view! Its OK with some websites, zooming in rearranges the text, but some other websites, you have to scroll across, which is a bit of a pain. Hopefully if enough people moan, RIM may sort this out on a future upgrade.

Apart from that, it does look fresh and new. A decent step up visually from OS5.

Cheers

There is one thing i'd say, with the txt icon which I have fixed to the desktop, when a new message comes in you normally get a red star with the icon up the top, I get the icon up the top but no red star on the shortcut itself, the others are fine its just the txt icon, is yours the same?
